your mini greenhouse will heat up and cool down really quickly, are you able to keep a CONSTANT eye on things?

one of ours 9" tall, in the poly border, has flowers coming on..could be golden sunrise or tigerella, lost it's label..planted out a week ago  :)

which would be bad the heating up or the cooling down??? its just one of those little 3 shelf plastic jobbies, i can always unzip it and zip it up again morning and night, or shall i just keep them all inside till further notice???

I'm similar to yourself Phoenix, I'm growing in a mini greenhouse.

I bought my plants from Homebase a fortnight ago for 99p each.

Most have flowers developing but none have so far flowered. I've had terrible success over my last 2 growing seasons with a very poor crop from each. I'm wondering am I doing something wrong?

Tony - never doubted you!! But why you & not me - ever??

CO2 - you won't be potting up yet will you - I doubt that the roots are half formed yet, so no gain.

I kept some seeds from a plant I had last year and its coming up great. I didn't plant it until a few weeks ago and its not as strong as the shop bought ones but this is staying on my window sill. It should produce small cherry tomatoes, can't remember the variety of it:

some of my tomatoes are falling ill already.
variety's ildi are developing yellow  n greying leaves. wonder is it mould.  or early blight???? it is on the variety ildi which ive never grown before.

they are in pots.

also have another plant which has developed speckling leaves ( faded  n becoming slightly see through.
i removed the damaged leaves..... but maybe i should just chuck them?
this is on a red pear variety.

i'm beginning to wish i'd stuck to moneymaker and gardener's delight.
they are in an unheated greenhouse.

anyone any advice.  dont have pics to put up unfortunately.

Mine are currently about 1ft tall.  I am growing them in containers this year as opposed to in buckets with holes in the bottom.  I have lined the greenhouse with plastic.  With taking on a second plot it will be one less thing to weed whilst keeping the outside ground weed-free. ::) ::)

If, like Tonybloke, they are on a windowsill the wall will provide a little extra heat at night.
Becca, how big are the plants? Are they still in the 3" pots you get them in? If so I'd suggest the compost has run out of nutrients and they are getting potbound nad starved... they will loose some leaves at that stage if not potted up into slightly larger pots and some fresh compost...  :-\

those are just outside my back door, the brick shed is a good heatsink, I can fleece or bubblewrap if I need to at night. and I live less than a mile from the sea, so very few frosts in May. ( I also have some spare in the greenhouse if these get frosted heavily) ;)

What type of compost have you used?

Have you warered them overhead?

Droplets of water can magnify the effects of the sun and burn/scorch the leaves.
