Just wanted to say hello

got our allotment about 3 weeks ago, all overgrown. The allotment is in Birmingham. Met quite a few people on the allotment, all very friendly. Shirlton told me about the site, they have given us lots of veg - thank you. Just in the process of digging beds, got three done, still loads to do, but we will get there eventually. Will probably have plenty of questions when we work out what we will grow. Just trying to decide if there is anything we can put in this year.

bye for now

Try covering some of the areas with sheeting and work on the beds you have done. It will do a lot of the work for you. Good luck with the new site. :)

Melbourne12

We order quite a lot from these guys http://www.vegetableplantsdirect.co.uk/ourshop/cat_50952-All-Vegetable-Plants-And-Herbs.html

They've still got quite a few plants available for planting in August and September for cropping this year.

Plants are obviously more expensive than seeds, but they're a good way to get a lottie productive quickly.

Best of luck!

Hi,

thanks for the welcome, and thank you Melbourne12 for the link I will have a look later to see what I can try.

Bye for now

Welcome Carste

I'm new to all this too, took on my first lottie a couple of months ago.

I have an order placed with the website that Melbourne has suggested. They seem very friendly and are really helpful, but completely snowed under with orders it seems. I'd recommend getting your order for September in now to make sure that you get it at the right time.

Good luck and enjoy it!

;D

Barnowl

Welcome to the forum Carste.

Similarly I've bought from this nursery:

http://www.organicplants.co.uk/

who will deal in relatively small quantities and have been reliable. They seem pretty reasonable with regard to prices. You can order individual types of plant or a mixture for the month of the year that you're in.

It's also worth asking if they've anything left over from the previous month.

hiya, carste, nice to meet you  ;D
we've got an order for september from Melbourne's link, don't normally plant up 50 brassica in september but lots of family and friends  ;D
also, happy birthday, hope it's today, I'm having 'a bit of trouble' working it out  ;D

Tulipa

And welcome from me too!

I have an order from Barnowl's link coming for September planting too, PSBroccoli, chard and perpetual spinach.  They have been recommended a few times on here so I think they will be good.

Enjoy your plot. :)
