This Peacock was making quite a noise at Kailzie Gardens today, but its a beautiful Bird.

Gorgeous aren't they, and that noise really is something else!  We had one escape from a private collection last year and roam around the allotment.  What a lot of damage a lovely bird can do!

Marianne

Nice photo again Carol ! You are becoming quite an expert at taking photos, just like Mr Bailey !  ;D ;D 8)

My M-in-Law used to keep them, little B*ggers! They were toads to get into their pen at night, and could go from the ground to the top of the house like a harrier jump jet, straight up! They have claws like you wouldn't belive, and when you couldn't get them in the pen would scream in the mornings so we would get angry calls from neighbours! Loved them anyway, thanks Carol bought back good memories ;D

My partner's parents have 30 peacocks roaming their grounds  :o They have white ones, black winged ones, speckledy ones & the "normal" colouring, as an artist I love watching them.

The postman is terrified of them. They act like guard dogs, and set up a terrible racket if someone drives down the lane.

Wow trip down memory lane!

Always let someone else keep them!  Great from a distance.

My Mum-in-Law had her neibours birds roosting over her bedroom window - who needed an alarm clock after that!!

And as for calling cards well .....  DEFINATELY let some one else keep them. ???

You mean you can eat a Peac o c k?  never...

oooo I am shocked.

:P

Robert_Brenchley

Of course. I've never tried it, but it used to be something served at royal banquets and the like. I've often wished the birds at the Botanical Gardens would escape and come to my plot so I could murder them for the pot!

Carol

ooooo right enough RB.  so they were, especially the Victorians with their huge banquets, even before that, they ate huge meals.  Swans as well, now only the Queen is allowed to eat a Swan.  Bet she dont tho.....
