The last butternut squash...but not quite the last as a neighbor and I painted it in
a still life we've been working on. It is now "the immortal" butternut!

We've been finishing off the mibuna and mizuna in salads and stir fries this week.

Digeroo

Finally getting PSB.  Thought it would never produce.  Also getting some celery, not long stalk but makes a good addition to a stew.  I thought it would not survive the winter but no problems there.  Getting a few furry carrots too, also good for the chicken stew.

artichoke

Hid some raw sliced sorrel in a lettuce salad just now (along with finely sliced young dandelion leaves and hedge garlic) and had no adverse comments.

Sorrel is interesting stuff that I wasn't sure how to use. Yesterday I dropped some sliced leaves into an omelette at the still runny stage and they melted away into it, adding a delicious lemony taste. Then wilted some into cream I happened to have for a short simmer, and poured the result over some fried bacon. Both were lovely (nasty khaki colour when cooked, though).

Does anyone else use sorrel?

small

I grew the cultivated red-veined sorrel from T&M some years ago and it has stood through the winters ever since.  I only use it as a raw leaf, but even the smallest and youngest are rather too sharp for OH. I'll try it in an omelette after what you said, and maybe soup?

manicscousers

pizza topping (only 4 more lots left  :( )..includes last years tomatoes, garlic, onions, peppers , basil and chillies  ;D
