At the bottom of my large chest freezer (no jokes please) I found a tub of yellow french beans from 07, and half a tub of mangetout peas from 08. I can't bear to throw food away and didn't quite dare serve them au naturel, so made a soup, all the while expecting to pour it down the sink.....it was lovely. It was a very delicate taste with neither ingredient dominant.  I feel quite smug!

When veg in the freezer gets a bit old I boil it, blend it, and use it as a sort of soup base with some fresh veg.

Duke Ellington

roast parsnips, pumkin, jerusalem artichoke with a bit of garlic to give it extra taste.  Accompanied by broad beans and runners from the freezer.  had to buy spuds as I ran out before Christmas.  Would love home grown chicken but OH hasn't forgiven me yet for bringing home a couple of budgies years ago.

With pork chops today, we had the last of the parsnips and brussels and the first of the PSB.  Did Delia's Rhubarb and Ginger Brulee with my first rhubarb - good but about a million calories :o

non-stick

Had our first purple sprouting yesterday. It was touch and go this year when the snow brought the netting down and the pigeons got in but we re-covered them and now looks like we'll get a reasonable crop - it was yum.

Still picking leeks - they didn't grow much but taste great

Emagggie

Smile, it confuses people.
