Not actually a swap, but not sure where else to put this...

I want to buy some of those small grip lock bags for storing seeds in, ones about 3" square.

I ordered some from one ebay seller but they never turned up, though I did get an immediate refund when I contacted them, as they had no more in stock :(

A week ago I ordered some again, but from a different ebay seller.  I paid for 1st class post but they still haven't turned up.  I know the post can take a while, but this is getting rather annoying.

Can anyone recommend a reliable supplier to buy them from?

Real Seed company are very reliable.  I have not used their little "baggies" before but here is a link if you are interested...

Hi

I would STRONGLY recomend 'Captain Bags' I picked up a couple of different types of bags really cleap

http://www.captainbags.com/

Because of the different sizes fo some of the seeds i have,  i got the following

1.5" by 2.5" Bags 100 £1.21
2.25" by 3"  Bags 50 £1.10
3.5" by 4.5" Bags 50 £1.47

postage i think was £1

Mrs Ava

City, how many are you after?  I have some which I can drop in the post if you are only after a dozen or so...

is it o.k. to keep seeds in plastic then, I've been putting them in envelopes as I thought they sweated  :)

Thanks for the info and the offer of bags.  I'm actually after quite a lot - what with seed swaps online and with friends and with rellies....  I had ordered 500 (thought that should keep me going for a few years ;)) and still have my fingers optimistically crossed that they may yet turn up :-\, though not sure I'll buy from them again!

Captain bags seems a good link.  I quite like the mixed lot of different sizes they do - that would cover everything from tiny seed like alpine strawbs, up to the likes of broad beans...

Sadly all a bit late for the seed swap "pass the parcel" on Monday (my fault).  So I'm busily cutting out paper templates and gluing them together.  If the parcel doesn't go out on Monday it'll be because I've pritt-sticked myself to the computer ;D

I'd got a few as well you could have had, but obv. you're after the big numbers; however if they're for seeds I'd recommend you look for those little brown paper envelope thingies - they're not going to store well in plastic/polythene.

When I send out swaps I use money bags which as treasurer I can pick up free when I'm in the bank! But long term storage I use cheap envelopes... Normal size ones for peas and beans smaller ones for toms...

I used ebay! Now i just pinch them - paper packets ;0

I will make up some paper ones from the Seed Site and put them in the parcel when it comes to me.

I remember someone from here sent me seeds once in neat little packets made from post-its (with the help of pritt stick I think) - very neat 8)

Don't laugh, but I have some Boots Breastmilk storage bags which I intend to use for seed storage. They are meant for freezing expressed breastmilk for storage, and have a DOUBLE seal strip. They are Approx. 4"x7 1/2", pre-sterilised until opened.
They come in boxes of 40. Not sure of the cost because my daughter gave them to me, when she decided not to breastfeed our latest grandson.
Grow your own and enjoy the fruits of your labours,
Regards Alan.

Hi

If you still decide you want plastic bags, this guy is really good,
and from what I have seen seems to be cheaper than most.

if you're still looking, I'd highly recommend http://stores.ebay.co.uk/KitKare ;D
I bought 200 3" x 3.25" bags for £2.69 inc p&p

they were incredibly helpful and patient â€" I had to wait for PayPal to activate the new DirectDebit thingy (don't use ebay that often) before I could pay them and they sent me the bags anyway on trust :o

Thanks for the tip about captain bags.  My order arrived today along with free samples.  I have been in my element ever since packing up seeds for the pass the parcel game.
