Mrs Ava

Oh where to post!

Today for lunch, mum and I had fried home grown mushrooms on toast (mushies from a kit mum bought me for easter) and a hot steaming bowl of leek and potato soup (leeks from the lottie)

Tonight for tea, mum and I had onion quichie, with home grown onions, and salad, all home made, except the cucumber and toms!

For supper, we are going to share my first home grown globe artichoke and for pud, some roasted rhubarb with honey! :P

Oooo a lovely veggie meal.  :P   Hang on I'll get my coat! .......................
A friend is someone who thinks you are a good egg,
even though you are slightly cracked.

Diana

How many meal do you have a day?

I'm still on lettuce, spring onions + radish as far as the homegrowns go. Carrots in pots will be ready soon thought ;D
Re vera, cara mea, mea nil refert

sounds yummy EJ making my belly rumble

Mrs Ava

YUm!  How delish was that globe artichoke!  I couldn't believe the flavour.  Mum and I thoroughly enjoyed eating it, dripping with butter!

Normally Diana only 3 meals a day, but when mum is up, and I have fresh produce to use, we have more little meals.  We have tea with the kids at 6ish, but then my darling Ava arrives home at 8pm, so we had a little supper then.  ;D

I want to come and stay at your house for a few days and play in your garden and eat your lovely dinners  ;D

Can I?  ;D

Oh purleeesssseee  ;) :D :D

Hot_Potato

EJ - how exactly do you do your 'roasted' rhubarb....sounds wonderful - is oil involved then? H.P.

Mrs Ava

If you come, you have to bring a bottle of vino, that is my only charge!  ;D  (Had kippers tonite for tea - haven't had them for yonks and boy were they good!!  :P)

HP, nope, no oil.  I just wash the stems, but them into big big chunks, sprinkle over some sugar or honey (brown sugar is rather fab), cover with foil then bake in a medium oven for 20 mins or so.  Not too long as I like my bubby firm.  This way it doesn't all go to mooosh but stays chunky.  I have been having it with yoghurt, whilst sitting in the garden on my new lounger gazing at the pond.  Bliss!  8)

I've got globe arthichokes too but don't know if I'll eat em as I'm not keen.  They look lovely though.  Might flog them to the deli  ;D

Had a salad of my own mixed leaves with rocket and radish last night and I was really proud of myself.  Can't wait til the tomatoes and some spring onions are ready.  My spring onions have only just broke the surface.

Found a lovely spud growing through a hole in the back of the compost bin  ;D
I came, I saw, I composted

tim

We grew it all.

You saw the Chard yesterday, so I will only bore you with today's pick.

All processed in front of vegetarian daughter!!

Doris_Pinks

Ohhh lovely Tim, I can hear them "popping" under my size 7's! ;D
We don't inherit the earth, we only borrow it from our children.

Oooooh Tim, they are 'orrid

wardy

I couldn't stamp on a snail or slug if my life depended on it  :o    I leave them on my path and let the thrushes do the rest  :)
I came, I saw, I composted

tim

Thrushes? What's that? Sadly.

wardy

We're doing well in my garden for thrushes.  It must be me keep finding snails for them.  Not using chemicals probably helps too.  Had a young one on the garden yesterday  :)
I came, I saw, I composted

Mrs Ava

I know we get the occasional thrush as I find smashed snail shells on the path.  But I am with you DP, kapow and scrunch!  Very satisfying!  ;D
