Anyone else got their census form.  I suppose we have to fill it in, or get fined.  Not sure how they can check if you answer correctly.

it's being run by an american arms manufacturer, ( lockheed - martin)  so it should be safe!
You couldn't make it up!

They can't check whether you answer it correctly.  But they can check whether you answer it completely.

So if you object, just fill it out any old how, making sure to answer everything (except the question on religion which is optional).

saddad

There are "ennumerators" who can check completion... I thought about it...
but fill it in how you want...  ;D

lets hope this data doesnt end up on a laptop or disk drive

which is then left on a train or bus  :-\

Mines still in the envelope, I think it's a battle of wits, to see who opens it first.    :-\
Maybe we should have a poll Gaz to see where abouts they lose it.   ???
A.   On a bus
B.   On a train

I'm going to do mine online, after all it is going to be scanned digitaly and put on a computor anyway. As it all has to be on a certain day the system will crash from overload which should be fun. I have heard that this one is likely to be the last ever, as with all the checking devices Big Brother has on you it won't be needed.

I can't find the section where I have to put which colour toilet paper we use ;D

It's in Section 18, in the third attachment booklet.  There was one booklet missing from my pack, too.  What a pain!  I'm puzzled about the one where you have to list the names of all the animals you keep, including fish, insects, and snakes.  Since we keep bees, and will have around 60 thousand of them on 27th March, I'm going to need a lot of continuation pages.

Or which hand u use to wipe you arse.   :P

Yep can understand why some don't want to answer the census.

However, for the next 10 years it could well have a direct effect on local level in respect of social services, housing needs, Education, sewage, rubbish and the requirement for other services (say allotments).  Yes they don't get it right now but that does not mean we should not at least help them and hope they make a good fist of it.

On another aspect it seems like a good prospect that in 100 years time someone will be looking at their family history and i will be a part of it.  They will be able to look back at me and be able to say that they have a reliable snap shot of what I was.  Isn't it nice to be a part of history.

Only if it isn't taken out of the UK, I'm told that it is illegal for personal info about UK citizens to be taken out of the UK.

Twoflower

just done mine online.....it was a choice of that or football ::)

manicscousers

mine says fill it in on 27th march or as soon as possible afterwards  ???

Digeroo

It seems such a waste to print it out and then say you can do it on line.  Think of all those wasted trees.  It is going to be frustrating for people doing genealogy in 100 years becuase there are no middle names and no place of birth.

It seems you can fill it out now and say who is in the house on the 27th March.

If it was always done online it would not be that expensive.  They ask for your main language quite a long way into the form surely they could ask it first and then change the online form to match.

We got our census form yesterday.  I gave it to my 33 year old son to fill in Person 3 and when I read through what he had written, he had put his religion as Bristol City Football Club!

His explanation was that he wasn't a Trekkie or Jedi and that his football club is his religion.   ::)

He said that 400,000 people had put Trekkie or Jedi in the 2001 census and on searching the web, I came across this:

They have to save money somewhere, as they realise any information from your part of the country would not be worth the paper it was printed on. ;)
Due to government cutbacks Derby will cease to exist, should save them all of half a crown over the next 3 years ;D

lorna

Just got mine. No problem, will fill it in truthfully. Previous ones have been a great help to my niece who has worked on the Ancestry of our families.
