Mine's still in the packet. I'm not even thinking of planting it yet.

Picked a large plastic bag full of land cress today. Just like watercress, and a much neglected salad plant.

Pak choi seeds about to go in gutters, so have lost time there......

Been growing it all through the winter under lights,
When God blesses you with a multitude of seeds double  the blessing by sharing your  seeds with other folks.

My lettuce Dazzle, wild rocket, salad rocket, watercress aqua, pak choi, mustard and lamb's lettuce have all made it through the winter in an unheated greenhouse. We have had several cuttings already this year. Very surprising!

I am hopeless with lettuce. I hardly ever get a decent one. But your answers make me wonder if I shouldn't try a salad bed, with just young shoots etc, instead of actually trying to make lettuces!  I grow rocket successfully, just let it grow in a patch and self seed, then just snip off young shoots as they come up.

I have a large pot near the water barrels, maybe I should just stick some lettuce type seed in there and snip off what comes up!!!  :)
2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com

Just be vigilant... around water barrels is a favourite haunt for slugs and snails...  :)

Have just watched the video, excellent! Thanks very much. Congratulations on the 2010 result. You deserve it.

my lettuce that I grew over winter in boxes and in a cheapo plastic greenhouse thingy are stirring back into life, so will start picking some leaves soon  :)

And having seen your film I now have polytunnel envy!!

I have some rocket which overwintered under a simple cloche along with corn salad. The cornsalad has amazed me, as in my garden it is growing in numerous places where self seeded, already into full grown plants, so this salad crop is proving to be very hardy.

I haven't got any left from winter..it all had it..Normally something survives in cold GH...I had struggle to find whole GH from under all that snow, never mind any crops ::)
But I've dug out the seeds and I've got plenty in no time ;)
Ohh...those plant look really lovely..

Just got a few potfuls germinating again, I do like to do lettuce this time of year, it's so easy, it sort of gives you hope  ;D
