Allotments 4 All

Hi everyone, I just joined this site, am a member of allotments-uk.com which seems to be suffering from spam at th emoment, and is wilting a bit.
I am 49 ish, and live , and dig in south wales, just thought I would introduce myself! ;)

roads ok, pavements just compacted ice now, and allotment....still there... :(

This is the only allotment forum I belong to so I can't compare it with others but I think it's excellent. As Rosebud says, it is very friendly and supportive.

Hi Peter. Welcome to the best allotment forum there is. I too looked at Allotments uk before I came here .That was in July 2006.There is no comparison.
True . It does kick off on here now and again but the same goes in every close knit community which is what I would call A4A.

Welcome, Peter and Mossy- you've joined us at a good time, ready for the new season- things should start getting busy now!

I have one and a half plots, only on my second year this year, so still have loads to learn, grew spuds, runner & french beans, peas , onions, garlic  , carrots , broad beans,fennel, courgettes, leeks, summer cabbage,last year, ( didnt realise it was so much!)am now venturing into fruit in my new half plot.
Best results were my spuds (  desiree performed better than the other two varieties I grew), worse performers were the peas.
My plot is on a slope, and unfortunately has no water supply on site. :(, council have recently due to cut backs stopped backing the allotments, so no more freebies,everything now has to be paid for, which means that the rent is higher, and we have to organise our own insurance now...
