is this cheap?

£3.99 for 10 tubers inc p&p. Nop, not cheap at all.

Even the corporate gardening /cloth store/restaurant/Christmas decoration/pet shop etc centre will sell them cheaper that that.

Last year, such places sold them for about £3.00 for 2Kg (30+ tubers). In the better shops, lottie shops, about £3.00  for 3Kg (50+ tubers).

They're only worth it if you have to buy mail order, because you have no other choice.

The postage seems expensive too. They are cheaper than T and M though

don't actually use them myself, so, not for bargains galore  ;D

They were £1 in Wilkies last year for 5  but there were actually 7 in the bag.

We got ours from Wilkos last year and had a brill crop, well worth it. We shall be getting them again this year

How about £27.50 for 25Kg of Pink Fir Apple? + 6.50 P&P. Dont know how many in 25Kg but its a lot !

It would be roughly 300 tubers but they could be purchased directly from JBA for £25 + £7.20 postage saving a couple of quid.

I just bought some from wilkies in their gormet range 8 in the bag for 97p (says 5 on the outside hooray)

already thinking of summer salads yum!

I grew some last year and they were such a nightmare to clean I swore never again! They didnt seem to need any extra cosseting though, and did taste nice.

I bought a 99p bag from Wilkinson and it had 9 in it  ;D

Don't understand. 10 swipes each with the veg brush, break off knobs if you wish, cook in skins, skin if you wish (no need) - 15 secs? Oh, yes - longer than commercially washed tubers. Different kettle of fish.

No other variety gives the same salad texture & great flavour into March.

I had the same problem with pink fir potatoes. I think it has something to do with the compost you grow them in. I grew my pink firs in a dustbin. I had a brilliant crop but the compost stuck to the potatoes like glue so i understand lewic.
Tasty potato I liked them alot. I think I might try Anya instead this year.

Oh I wish! Mine were in very clay soil, that was wet and claggy when they were dug up.

They're not a summer salad spud, they're a late maincrop.... harvest in September...... Maybe Anya (it's a second early) would be similar....

Anya isn't quite as knobbly ( a pink fir x desiree cross) It's main advantage is you can lift them before the blight arrives... don't taste quite as good...  :)
