Wow Laurie, they are beautiful photos of an absolutely gorgeous house and garden. I wish it was mine!!!
For us here in Staffs, the snow that fell 3 days ago is still on the ground!

Hi Emmy, Unfortunately the cottage is a tied cottage, I have worked in the garden for almost 24 years but will lose it in the near future.I see you are in the Stafford area I did work for the Earl of Shrewsbury at Ingestre Hall back in the 50's. This is the owners house where we are, it used to be a private boys school.

Beautiful pictures Tonybloke and Laurieuk, no snow here so even nicer looking at your fab shots.

What stunning grounds Laurieuk, you must be very proud of them, I'm sorry things are changing. Thank you for sharing your photos.

Good lord, the snow was falling thick and fast earlier in W. Essex!  Started late afternoon and by the time I'd finished work at 5, it was at least 3-4 inches deep and still falling strong! As I've mentioned before, I work next to a part of Epping forest and boy did it look gorgeous by the time I left - unfortunately too dark for any pictures though and I'm not at work tomorrow, sigh.  The traffic was horrendous because we all had to crawl and the four mile journey home took about an hour and a half.  Apparently we're forecast another heavy load around 5.00am.  What can I say, I loves the snow! ;D

PS - gorgeous pics, laurie! and some entries for the Dec. photo comp in this thread I see ...  ;)

There's none in SW Cornwall (where I am now), there was a few inches back at home near Heathrow.

Hi Laurie, what a shame you will lose the cottage-seems horribly unfair but I suppose that's the system.  :(

Looks like it's thawing here in Sussex, nipping out now to finish the shopping  before it starts freezing again

We still have over 3" of snow and this morning the frost was really hard, it was strange walking on really crunchy snow (hard top soft centre)

When you go into private service with a tied house you know that at sometime it all comes to an end. We are very fortunate in that we work for a gentleman who I am sure will do something for us, it is just that the whole place will be sold and we do not know really what happens to us. Thank you all for your concern, I am due to stop working at some point (I am 78) so this may not be a bad thing.

This was at the plot this afternoon.

About 6 inches...

Just about managed to get some parsnips!

Rained last night but by the morning it had all turned to ice the place was like a skating rink first thing with an inch of ice all over the ground.

Expect it will be a wrench having to move.  Better put your name down for every allotment you can find.

lots more snow last night and this morning in North Yorkshire in the Dales... its beautiful.  yesterday we had to push car out of small snow drift up the lane, but today the tractor had gone through to clear it.  This is my OH remembering how he pushed the car out as I got in and drove... (I said you're stronger; you can push, and I'll drive!!!)

Some lovely photos there!

Here in Bristol there was 6 inches of beautiful snow which has semi-thawed and turned to ice. Not quite as pretty as the Yorkshire Dales, and treacherous to walk on. Recommend these slip-on snow-grabber things to go on your shoes http://www.blacktoe.co.uk/ice%20Grips/ice%20grips.htm Dont know what I would have done without them and I'm not even that elderly!
