Lovely bird, but my cat is on my lap watching. Beware, actually he is too old now with his rheumatism to catch anything.

Nice photos Eric.   :)

Really fab pics Eric, I often wonder how you get such amazing close ups! A good camera or very patient wild life? ;)

Lovely photos, I am interested in that it appeares you have a concrete type bird bath which the birds use. We have many birds at our feeding tables etc. they love bathing in an old dustbin lid but I was given a concrete typs bird bath 2 years ago and still waitng for a bird to bath. I was told it was because there was a rabbit in the middle, I removed ot but no change. I have tried various places. :'(

Palustris

It is indeed a concrete bird bath! Perhaps it is an aging thing, this must be 30 years old as it came from my mother's garden. Everyone uses it from the cats through the hens down to the blue tits.

Pure luck with the pictures. The birds do come very close to the house and as long as the windows are clean, then I can get a decent attempt at taking pictures of them.

It can be a long time getting photos, I have a photo of about ten longtail tits on my feeding stand and I had to take a good many to get the right one. You can see it on lauriemansersgardenhints.blogspot.com

Lovely photos Eric.  I tried taking some of the birds in my garden but they came out as tiny specks with my camera.  When I magnify them they then become blurred.  What camera do you use Eric?

Palustris

Did say in the Pheasant head posting. Panasonic FZ28 with x 18 optical zoom.

Having taken another look at your photos I wonder if the problem with my birdbath not being used is because it has a raised centre with a rabbit standing on it. I have tried without rabbit but no difference so I am going to grind the centre down to make a complete bath area.
