here is a pic of my new plot. the bags are manure! but they make good weights!
the leeks were there when i took it on.
it does look a bit rubbish but it is improving every time i go down there

Looks great Jemma, and it came with free leeks! There's lucky!  ;D  And do my eyes decieve me or is it fairly weed free? It hasn't come with the obligatory brambles and nettles?
In a few months time it will be brimming with lots of lovely stuff I am sure!

it had weeds but they pulled outta the ground like butter!
there are the docks and dandelions but i have pulled the little beggars out over the past couple of months! it does look better than this now! the mess at the far end is actually raspberry canes, another bonus!

Looks similar to mine Jemma, with about as much plastic sheeting, still waiting for the manure delivery and managed to make a small raised bed so far. I've put off the digging and waiting for jack frost to break it up for me. ;D

Good luck....x

What do you mean it looks like a bit rubbish!!!  Looks excellent to me.  And free produce!!  ;D The soil looks very rich also.  Keep them pics coming.

Tim - i am not sure about the populars? i will let you know in the summer but when i was getting started last year they didn't seem to cast much shade?

I wouldnt have thought poplars would cast much shade. Depends on how far away they are in relarion to the plot and in which direction. Nevertheless they have pretty light canopies.

Looking good. It's just laying there, waiting for you to fill it up. Will you make some pictures several months apart from the same postition? Oh, how I love before and after and after and after pictures. Please try?

It is a really good basis to work from Jemma and you will be surprised by how well it will come on once you start your planting.  As EJ says the soil looks good even for this time of year. Looking forward to seeing your progress. All the best with it.  :) busy_lizzie
