Or It's a funny old year---- and I don't just mean the weather

I've been very quiet on here this year and the blog has gone rather by the wayside, but I am still growing me veg

Lack of time and changes to personal circumstances have meant I've not been on line much and someone stealing my camera hasn't helped with the blog pics.

However, although a little more untidy than last year the allotment is doing well. Heres qucik run down

Spuds, earlies are fine, cut the tops of them as though had blight, mains I trimmed down and will cut the lot of soon, not holding out much hope for them storing

Roots - carrots ok, minimal carrot fly, parsnips a bit of a paiin to germinate but looking ok. Beetroot all good, radishes growing like mad.

Brassica's - Finally got Calabrese (last years a no go), summer PSB bolted while i was on ho0liday, romanessco do nothing but produce leaves. PSB looking ok for the winter. Cauli bolted a bit ealry, cabbages looking good.

Beans .-  Cobra climbing ones went made produced lots then nothing, not a bean, not sure if i let them get too big or what, better luck next year

Squashes - Taking over the whole, never had so many Cu's outside, loads of courgettes, pumpkins doing well.

Sweetcorn - Very good, 2-3 per plants, nice size, very sweet

Tomatoes and chillis etc - Chilli plant, tiny, peppers, small but growing some, Tomatoes, loads but not ripening at all, not done much side shooting this year either which may not help

Salads, how far wrong can you go.

Weeds. VERY  WHERE.

Hope everyones having fun with theirs

At least you have your 'shades' on for the 2 days of Summer!

Still here ? where did you go...being a newcomer I missed something!

but Hi anyway, sounds like your plot is not doing to badly, to early to report on mine/ours as we have only had it for 8 weeks and spend two weeks clearing part of it just to plant a few cabage, leeks and beans.
Each weekend is a combat between the weeds and the weather! last week I made the mistake of thinking I was winning... this week I have lost.. but live to fight on.

My Cobra was the first of three varieties (others were Cherokee Trail of Tears and Blue Lake) to produce and, like yours, was prolific but then appeared to have given up -  a bit like some of my dwarf varieties seem to do. Perhaps I don't feed them enough?

Anyway, second planting went in 2 weeks ago and seems ok but has a long way to go.
