Hello Everyone

Having read many of your postings, it seems that the problem we are currently facing here  in Bristol is by no means unique!

The council is considering selling a disused allotment site ( adjoining our very popular, oversubscribed existing site) in favour of a horribly dense housing estate build.

We want  the council to reconsider and to restore this unique green space and the allotment to its original purpose for the benefit of the community in the future.

I would be so grateful if anyone who wishes to support our campaign might be willing to visit the link below and sign the petition.

http://www.bristol.gov.uk/item/epetitionview.html?PetitionID=169

Some have said that the link can be a bit iffy at times, so a copy and paste should help if this is the case

Many thanks in advance for any support you wish to give to this cause

Rachel Harris  :)

Thanks ! I hope it will and thanks to everyone who has signed and given support so far -  it's great. We really are hoping we can make a difference and sway the council to reconsider their actions!

Happy growing to all :)

Signed it. This kind of thing really winds me up. People who think poorly constructed generic modern housing or supermarkets or whatever is better than green spaces or gardens.

Grrrrrr....

Good luck!

Oh yes, we have been to the press - quite a few articles now and even more to come in the next few weeks.  The problem is that the developers have now  submitted their planning with blatant disregard for all the valid objections related to it and the council are, frankly, as useless in their management of this land let alone their funding. I found, online , an article suggesting that they are planning to sell it to help pay off their overspend  run up in  making Bristol a 'city of culture', in spite of their promises that sales of existing allotments would be used for  regeneration of others! What a farce!
