Following on from dandylion's thread titled "Suggestions wanted for a real British pudding" and cambourne7's point about a poll...

I've gone through dandylion's thread and collated the entries so far into the options listed above as well as having a look online for further ideas.

Discovering www.puddingclub.com helped only so far as realising that the majority of traditional British puds seem to be made from suet!

Two votes per person to enable a choice on pudding and on the Great Custard Skin Debate 2007.

There may be some debate over true Britishness and it's interesting that nothing noticeablly Welsh, Scottish or Irish easily came to mind. There must be a Great Pudding from our sister countries - does anyone know of any?

It's the first poll I've created, so apologies if things go a little awry!  ;D

Moggle

Admitting this probably means I should be chucked out of the country - but I don't like custard with puddings  :-\
Love lashings of double cream though! (Specially M&S extra thick double cream  :P)
Lottie-less until I can afford a house with it's own garden.

Trixiebelle

Bread and butter pudding/summer pudding .... BLEEUUUUURRRCCCHHHH  :o

Bread shouldn't be allowed near fruit of any description ... IT'S FOR MAKING BACON SANDWICHES WITH!!!!
The Devil Invented Dandelions!

HappyCatz

There appears to be a fundamental error with your poll.......as a real pudding fan, it is completely impossible to choose just two!!!! ;)

ps, have just whipped up a divine treacle tart for tea tomorrow and made some nut brittle and cinder toffee to send to my mum for mother's day....teeth are hurting just thinking about all that sugar!

Wicker

B/Leg, the only "traditional" Scottish dessert I can think of is Cranachan - and I'm Scottish!  Bit expensive for everyday tho as it involves lots of double cream, raspberries, honey, oatmeal and the liqueur whiskey. Not being a whiskey lover I substitute vanilla and, on occasion, Amaretto - making it not Scottish I suppose!  In its favour it doesn't require cooking and is pretty well failsafe.

Trixie I despair of you woman - how can you speak so of bread and butter pudding mmmmmmmmmm ;)

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened

manicscousers

you lot did it today, went out for lunch and gave in, had some lemon meringue after, bang goes the diet, again !! ;D ;D

Mrs Ava

I'm a steamed pudding of any variety, and anything to do with almonds...so bakewell tart everytime.  I'm another non custard eater.  Prefer cream, or happy with a dry pudding.  So love the milk puddings, but could only choose 2...so not fair!!  ;D

Wicker

Shamefaced here, Jeannine  :-[  How could I forget clootie dumpling - love it, hot, cold, fried - just love it!

triffid

How about old-fashioned baked rice pudding, seasoned with cinnamon and nutmeg? (plus cardamom, allspice and a touch of cloves the way I do it!)

I'm told it's lovely cold as well, but in the triffid household it never gets the chance to cool.  ::)

Obelixx

Can't see sticky toffee pudding or banoffie pie either.  Might have to rethink the list.
