Don't come home from the pub and read witty comments from somebody you respect followed by a smartarse comment from somebody you don't like - then post a response ::)

Hi all,

Whats a typo between friends?

I agree completely with what weedbusta wrote.

Sometimes I write complete scribble and at other times I have no idea what I`m banging on about but I come here everyday and read what you all have written.

Thanks for your wisdom however you spelt it.  :)

... I am warmed by winter sun and by the light in your eyes.
I am refreshed by the rain and the dew
And by thoughts of you...

Well said Col,we come on here to read about gardening and related topics, the spelling and grammar is incidental, it is the knowledge, wit, warmth, welcome of the postings that are what matter!

Now you all are maiking me worry if this is written right!! :)

So what about shop signs then? Apart from the always mis-placed apostrophe, I saw this today

'Proveyors of High Quality Prime Scotch Beef'

???

The shop (and sign) have been there since God's dog was a pup.....shall I mention it?

;D

For years and years there used to be a sign in a butchers' in Fort William saying 'Cookad Meets'. This was in the 1970's; I have no idea whether it's still there.

Drove past a shop last night, all painted up and fancy (under new management) with a big sign outside saying "SAMWICHES"

Hey Katie. Glad you don't live near me otherwise I might worry in case it was one of my son's signs ::) ::)

Roy Bham UK

Not quite the same but similar ::) ;D we have a shop near us that says "Walter Wall Carpeting" ;D

Yellow Petals

At work, before leaving the staff area and going into the public area, there's a big sign painted on the wall above our heads saying, "Smile .... your on the company stage"
So many times I've wanted to grab some paint and paint in the apostrophe and additional e!!!

any posts i do at the moment are done whie feeding the baby, so one handed and half the time with my wrong hand, and a brain full of post natal hormones, not conducive to a literary masterpice i'm afraid! i'd never correct a post for spelling or grammar.
Make the most of today, because you'll never have it back again.

Where did I read that the brain is able to read normally words that are mispelt as long as the first and last letter are correct? [goes off to google...] Can't find the link. I remember they wrote a badly spelt paragraph but I was able to understand it without any effort.
