Okay, you're on your desert island. You have the bible, the complete works of Shakespeare and whatever luxury item (mine would be a lighter!)... But if they allowed you one "herb" & one "spice", what would they be?

I think mine would be Cayenne Chilli pepper & Oregano.

Oregano & cinnamon, I'm assuming black pepper is not classed as a spice

Oh my! I'm so glad I'm not!!!  I really can't choose - so many are quite indispensable. :-[ :-[ basil, thyme, rosemary, ginger, chilli, cardamom, parsley, cumin.........

I have about 50 different herbs and spices in my kitchen. How could I leave them?

Herb easy - Oregano.  Spice less so - Chili or Cumin

I cannot believe no-one has said garlic for their herb, yet.  That would be mine and cumin for my spice.

Yes for me garlic is more a vegetable than a herb, perhaps because it's an allium? Hence not included. It would certainly be something I wouldn't like to do without!!
