Temp for sweetcorn?

On GW on Friday, Alys said that courgettes and sweetcorn need a temperature of at least 10 degrees after germination untilplantingout time. I've sown my sweetcorn in my unheated greenhouse where they have had high temps in the day and have nearly all germinated now. I'm sure I left them out there last year but i know it won't be above 10 at night. What do you think?

it's been down to 2oC here and mine in the greenhouse are just fine.

planted 12 in the polytunnel border 3 days ago, they're doing well and we have no heat in there  :)

anyone planted sweetcorn outside yet? I was too enthusiastic and mine are sat in the greenhouse at the moment... getting a bit too big so gonn have to go out soon.....      ???

Most of my sweetcorn is in a unheated GH.  Only reason I have some indoors is because my GH is bursting with stuff.  No room left at the inn 8) 8)

They need more warmth to germinate than to grow. After last year, I'm not even trying to germinate mine outside, but I'll be moving them out as soon as they're up.

ThinkI just caught the last of the hot weather with mine- they are just about all half an inch tall.Guess they will slow down this week.

Several people on our site have put it out, and it isn't suffering noticably yet... but could still have a frost. Somebody has put Runners out and they have gone all pale..  :-\

Alys is a perfectly valid spelling. Names are spelt all sorts of ways anyway, and unless the person has changed their name by deed poll, it's never their fault!

Having been in Stratford on Avon for the weekend we went along to a Sunday market, one chap had Sweetcorn on sale it was a good nine inches high, my little chaps are still in small pots under cover about a bugs dick high, :)

Threw mine in a margerine tub, as usual, last weekend. Now have a tub of strong health shoots. No heat in the greenhouse other than that provided by the sun.
Anyway Alys is about 2 months behind - my squashes/courgettes/melons were sown in the propagator  2 months ago and are now doing very nicely. Just moved the courgettes to the cold frame as the greenhouse is now getting too hot during the day.

To be fair to Alys, i wouldsay you are two months ahead, Vortex, certainly compared to Yorkshire. I haven't sown by courgettes yet, though I'll probably do it this weekend.
