A thought occurred to me as I was running through and voting for each category. I seemed to see a trend to my voting and the same names were in the frame in many votes.

How about an overall winner, second and third for the whole show for those people who have entered 5 or more classes. Or what ever number of classes we think is right….

This could be decided upon by the number of individual wins, 5 points for a first, 3 for a second, 2 for a third and 1 point for a fourth, or a simple vote at the end of the main voting?

The small size of some of the classes might make the points method a bit flakey though.

Just an idea.

I was thinking of adding up the vote count! This would exclude those that were the only entrant in a competition. I would then like to suggest a vote count of 10 for those single competition entrants (and that includes the confession of a nettle grower!)

Good on you doc steve for growing the nettles, they play a very important part in the garden for the wild life.  I am afraid I am one of those people who dig them out though.

On the subject of voting, I am surprised at the low numbers of votes - I think the highest I have seen is 18 in any one category.  Maybe those who have not entered think they are not entitled to vote  ???
Happy gardening all...........Pat

Mimi

I agree with you Pat, especially when you check out how many 'views' each catagorie has compared with how many viewers have bothered to vote.
Take time to stop and smell the flowers.

righty ho. Have done a quick add up (if maths and brain were working correctly) - using 10 points for the winners in single entrant competitions, and the number of votes in the polls (except finals)....

As a lottie novice I have really enjoyed looking at all the different types of veg and would like to thank everyone for sharing their veg with me. I have made quite a few notes of what I want to grow next year from looking at this comp - you never know I might enter more than just tumbin toms next year!
