The town that was hit yesterday (Tenbury Wells) is only about 40 mins from us. We're in the lucky position of not being flooded but the way it rained yesterday was almost biblical!!! I don't think I've ever seen so much rain. I was really looking forward to this summer, we only developed our garden last year and this is its first proper summer and also the first year with the allotment but it's just been a nightmare trying to get out and do work in both.

We must count ourselves as lucky though, at least our homes have not been damaged like the poor folks elsewhere, my heart really does go out to them.

Yes, our head teacher who was flooded out in the biggie three weeks ago was flooded again the night before last.XX Jeannine

its not good my end either on friday and saturday. I am moving the greenhouse to my plot tomorrow evening and starting to put my new raised beds together.

I cant imaging the heartbreak of getting flooded twice in a month!!

In spite of the underground stream beneath our plot we've got away with it so far, mainly because the south-east hasn't had quite the same deluge as the midlands and further north.

But it looks as though we're getting a band of "very heavy" rain (8 to 16mm an hour) coming through tomorrow.  Should be over our lottie at about lunchtime.  :o

I've just cleared my broad bean bed and dug in the roots.  The soil is incredibly dry a good spade down.   :o

It really is most odd as it's usually us that's swimming.

Fortunately for us we live on a hill but the rain didn't stop at all yesterday. Went to the Erdington plot today to get the veg for tomorrows dinner and got absolutely soaked. Had to go into Iceland on the way home.  Don't know what they thought of me in my muddy jeans and my sodden hair. Don't dare to go to the plot near home cos it was waterlogged the other day, Goodness knows what it's like today. We must be thankful that we have'nt had it as bad as the folks in other areas. Perhaps next year will be better eh!

'It's never happened here'.

Until yesterday - the whole of Bourton is now under water. That is too close to home.

Poor people. So many of them pensioners, standing there, not knowing who to turn to.

All phone lines to Police whatever were blocked. No one to answer, anyway, all out trying to help.

I was on holiday in Bourton on the water just 2 weeks ago shortly after the first floods in Sheffield, Hull etc.  We got an awful lot of rain while we were there, but guess we were lucky we are not there this week.  Terrible to think of all the damage being done there (and elsewhere )

I was married just outside henley in arden (flooded) and we all stayed in statford upon avon (flooded)

Friends of mine wanted to go camping in the south of the UK. I told them what I read here and they thought I was exaggerating. ::)

They probably will be looking for another destination to spend the holidays though, as your flooding made it to our frontpages this morning. Some attention was given over the last month, but now it is considered a natural disaster.

Seeing the actual damage and people being taken into a helicopter, it made me feel so sad. My heart goes out to you.

we are in south glos, nearer bristol and it is really scary that all that flooding is a few miles up the road !!
