MAY THE CORN BE WITH YOU.

Mrs Ava

hehehehehehe.  Bless you lot!  Lots of lovely PM's and emails.  Right, I am back, alive but it will be a long time before I am kicking!  The hernia was a lot bigger than the surgeon anticipated and there was some nerve damage.  As the repair was a lot larger, he also had to cut some nerves so I have lost some feeling around that area.  Until the wound is completely healed, he can't predict how much loss of sensation there will be.  I have a lot of staples keeping my insides in which will be removed next Thursday.  Mum is staying until Tuesday as I am not allowed to do any lifting at all, not even the kettle, for 2 weeks, and no heavy lifting, like supermarket shopping bags full of shopping for 6 weeks!  The wound is incredibly painful and I have strong painkillers which help a bit.  Because of the location of the hernia it hurts to walk, sit and stand which is difficult!  I am supposed to be doing some light walking, so I strolled (shuffled) around Morrisons with mum this morning, but by the time we got to the check out I was in tears because of the pain so I came home and slept for a bit.  Honestly, having my babies wasn't this painful!!

So there you have it, back in the land of the living, bored rigid and shuffling from a to b!  Thanks for all the good wishes, I'm sure having all of your good thoughts whizzing through cyberspace as I went under helped.  Now I will bore you all rigid as I can't do a thing other than sit infront of this computer bothering you all!  ;D

Good to know you're OK and back in the land of the living (well, just).  Don't try to do too much - delegate EVERYTHING, and make sure everyone spoils you rotten.   :-* :-* :-*

Glad to hear you are back. Hope the pain soon lessens. Must be murder for you not being able to do anything but at least you have got rid of that d**n hernia that has been causing you so much trouble. Take care.
Lorna.

Well done, EmmaJane - seems you've taken the first big step (sorry, small shuffle ;)) on the road to recovery - looks like it will be a longish/slowish road but you will get there.  Best wishes but don't get too used to being waited on!

Aw I am glad its all over and done with now Emma.  Just need to get over the op.  The days will pass and the pain will lessen and you will get stronger.  Patience is the key, so keep on shuffling between the chair, kitchen, loo, bedroom and puter.  Things will get easier in a few days.   :) :) :) :) :)

emmy1978

Hi EJ, glad your op went well. Sorry to hear you're in such pain but it won't last. Soon you'll be up and growing again. Will Ava keep an eye on the plot?
Let your marmie look after you and spend lots more time on here!!!  :-* For you. Get Well Soon.

Welcome back Emma!  So glad it is all over with, even though it is so painful for you. I am sure you will be keeping yourself well occupied until you can be up and about proper, but please give yourself time to heal. It will be worth the wait in the end, and I am sure you will be back good as new before too long.  Sending lots of hugs for a swift recovery!  :-* busy_lizzie

Mrs Ava

Phewie, another day begins.  I am sleeping okay funnily enough, and I don't know if it is the painkillers or the general anasthetic, but my hayfever seems to have passed, for the time being, so thankfully, I am not sneezing which would be INCREDIBLY painful!  Number one son wanted to see my staples today so I unveiled my wound for the first time and he counted 18 staples.  YOUCH!  Not looking forward to having that lot out.  Anyhow, the wound is clean and dry and neat so fingers and toes crossed there should be no complications.  Going out for lunch with the family today which will be lovely.  The front garden needs weeding desperately and it is driving me bonkers.  I think as soon as I have these staples out next week and the nurse says it is okay, I will put down a picnic rug, sit down with my trowel and a bucket and leasurely pull out the weeds.  Ava is off to the allotment for me tomorrow to dig some more International Kidney spuds - which I will certainly be growing again next year as they are amazing, and he will no doubt fill a couple of ice cream tubs with strawbs and rasps.

Just knocked back a couple of painkillers so hopefully by the time I have to try and bend myself into the car, the ache will be disguised.
