Mimi

Wowwwweeee cant believe that we have nearly reached 4,000 ... only seems to be a short while ago the we were celebrating 500.  Think that lots of praise goes to Dan the man, for all his efforts on our behalf.
The rest goes to all the great folk who make this not just the best allotment site................. but the best gardening site on the web.  ;D  ;D  ;D
Take time to stop and smell the flowers.

It is amazing to have reached such a large membership.  I think when I joined there was barely 250 people in here. It has been great to see it develop and grow to suit all of our needs.  It must be one of the best gardening sites on line and Dan has done a fantastic job on it, and been a great moderator.  Well done and congrats to Dan (hopefully having a wonderful holiday in Spain) and to all the lovely people who frequent this Board who have made it such a success!.  :-* busy_lizzie
live your days not count your years

I will eat my first ripe tom in celebration.

Congrats to Dan the man, and here's to the rest of us especially those that keep the rest of us on track.  you know who you are Tim !

Wow!  I was one of those in the 500's way back, when Tim was a boy.... ;)

We will be having a barby to celebrate - have lashings of fresh salad, and runner beans  :-\ to scoff!

Interesting to see how few of the original 250 members still post though. Sadly not many!
Gardening is the great leveller.

So glad that Ina talked me into it. Now she's too taken up with more urgent things. But she watches!

Mrs Ava

I agree Eric, some of those early friends are now only strangers in the night....

Looking good Tim - very dashing!

I was one of the great migration from the beeb, remember folks when they took our, over the garden fence, away. I remember Ken kept posting on there to come over here, most of us did I think.
"I always wanted to be somebody…but I should have been more specific."

rosebud

Yes Val i can remember when they took over the garden fence away that is when we found this fantastic sight with help.  Do you remember we were not allowed on the BBC to put other sites on so we had to work out a code to find this fab sight.

Sadly lots of peeps have now left, a few from the beeb are still here but without a doubt this is the best site ever, we all seem to respect each other, well one or two exceptions but we can ignore them.

Cheers everyone for being here and making things so pleasant a joy to visit.
No wonder we get withdrawel symptoms if there is a hiccup for a couple of hours.

MrsKP

i too started on the boob, and saw a couple of mentions for here, did a google search and haven't moved away since.  there's a couple of other site i read once i've gone through all of our posts in the small wee hours, but think i've only ever posted once elsewhere and it just didn't feel the same.

back home for me.

Admin aka Dan

Shucks,

Glad most people are happy here, we have about 1000 members who log in at least once a week, and around 2500 who log in each month, plus many many more guests.

I'll continue to do my best to keep things running.

Dan

Well done Dan! It's all down to you for making it 'home' here...I too came over from the Beeb.

Cheers! CLx

I found this site online when searching for a gardening forum.  I've belonged to a few forums in my time (not gardening) and find this to be the most positive forum I've experienced. You're not afraid to ask newby questions as you know the answers won't make you feel like a complete pranny.

I've told a few people about this site (Helen - identify yourself, I know you're out there!) and they, too find it useful. It's also a wonderful place to come to remind yourself that you don't have to keep up with the plot neighbours (youknow - the ultra neat, weed-free neighbours! ;)), that if things get a little too messy other people are going through the same thing, to persevere, learn and accept that fact that working with nature is a synergy, not dictatorship.

Is there a history of A4A?

Phee

This is probably as good a time as any to stand up and be counted.

I've been lurking for quite a while now and just haven't felt that I had anything to add.  But of all the forums (gardening and non-gardening) I've frequented I've got to say this is by far the friendliest and least scary.

THANKS DAN AND ALL YOU FRIENDLY GARDENERS!!

CotswoldLass

Soph, glad you took the plunge! You could always tell us about your garden......Best, CLx

Welcome Soph and all the best.
