Yes I watched it and enjoyed it very much.  I liked the contrast between the prommers in Belfast and the rioting going on around them.

I went to a prom concert held in our town for charity and it's a real romp and a celebration of who we are.

Everyone else celebrates their nationalities but we seem to always apologise for being British.

I love a good sing song anyway  :)

Hi Rosebud

Sorry I missed it (went to the pub).  Once sang in a penultimate night: Beethoven 9 Choral Symphony,  with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Claudio Abbado conducting.  Absolutely sensational atmosphere and I'm sure it was tonight too.  So glad you enjoyed watching it,  Rosebud.  Being married to a pro classical musician, I hope you're one of many, :)

ina

It was fantastic. Wish we had something like that in Holland.

Carol

Yes my spirits were lifted as well, fantastic music and especially liked that Baritone forgot his name, but beautiful voice.

How lucky are you Jill, the whole family went last year to a last night of the proms at AUDLEY END i don`t know if you have heard of it was absolutely brilliant it took me hours to come down from the excitement of it all the atmosphere was great.
Wardy i also like to sing along i find it all real stirring stuff   LOVE it. ;D ;D.
Had better go again i can`t shut up about it once i start.
  Great British Night.

Thought John Williams was at his best ever. Changed a bit since I taped him in London 30 years ago for our boys. Thought at first that he was Sven Eriksson!

And Andreas Scholl - a breath of fresh air.

Alas I missed it, the family was watching Casualty  :'(

However my own evening was still wonderful, so I am not sad.

Yep I missed it too, it really is a wonderful atmosphere if was like last years, I managed to watch that, it truly sends you to another realm. :)

I got back from a BBQ last night to see that it was on, and in a rather drunken state had a jolly good singalong! For me, it always signals the end of summer, which makes me a bit sad, but is always a great evening. I felt sorry for the crowds in Hyde Park getting drenched, but they didn't seem too upset! Hurrah for a classic British institution!

Mimi

Was a wonderful concert.  Really loved John Williams, what an amazing guitarist.  Also, later on,  had the opportunity to watch(yet again)  the Faynol Festival night with Andre Bottelli on S4C.  Both daughters clubbed together to buy  us tickets  for our wedding anniversary, and it was a truly fantastic night.
Take time to stop and smell the flowers.

Would a recording of the show be available??

Palustris

Apart from the first piece of 'noise'  in the second half (the modern piece specially written for the orchestra) I have to agree it was pretty good.
Gardening is the great leveller.

Marvelous!  Love it every year.
