The Eden Project

Has anyone visited the Eden Project down in Cornwall?

Thinking about having a long weekend down there next Fri/Sat/Sun but don't know anyone thats been, so any feedback or tips would be great...

It's quite a drive from Essex so want to know if it's worth it. ???

I have not been but it is definitely on my list of 'to do's'

A gardening friend has been on a local coach down there from the midlands, he said it was a fabulous weekend, plenty to see.

That is the limit of my experience but good luck.
PS I suggest using the web to find out as much as poss before hand.

its nice, no more than a day's worth in my opinion, but there's pleanty more to see/do down there. i thought they had some lovely plants and great pasties but not enough information by the plants for my liking.

definitely worth a visit, but as i say, i doubt its a weekend's worth

Haven't been myself but read lots of postings from those who have, who all seem really to have loved the experience!  Quite a feat of engineering, let alone the planting!  Be prepared to lose coats inside though, specially at this time of year!

I've been and quite enjoyed it .My only criticism being the shortage of trains going up top as it was raining and we got soaked.

We visited last year and were really impressed. We were lucky enough to get to one of the car parks at the bottom of the hill as we have dogs (not that you can take dogs in but there are facilities such as water and special covered parking spaces to keep them out of the sun).  Would agree about the labelling but otherwise very impressive and I believe they are improving it all the time.  Have attached a couple of photos.  One inside the Tropical Biome looking down from the top and another of one of the tropical plants they grow there.

It's fantastic.  You can make a full day out of it if you go to the talks/read the info boards etc, if you wanna fly round and just take in the vibe, you could always pop down to the Lost Garden's of Heligan in the afternoon.  I loved it as much as the eden project, and there are some fantastic sculptures there too.  

Both are definately worth the effort.

Well worth visiting; but agree about labelling,Littl'un (6 at the time) enjoyed it as well; but she is environmentally aware and plant friendly. Even so a day would be enough.

Yup, been 4 times now - family in N.Devon so we are frequently down that way.  We all love it, a fun day out.  We take it as we find it, a man made jungle full of wonderfully exotic plants.  I agree, the labelling is the pits, I would love to know more about the plants they are growing, and the staff we have encountered, altho enthusiastic, they seem to know very little, however the kids adore it.  The biomes are amazing, I forget how impressive they are.  We always go out of season so have never had any probs with parking or crowds.   ;D

A word of warning, i went in mid-summer in the tropical biome wearing jeans - very sweaty.   Other sensible visitors wore shorts.   Not sure what you should wear going in Jan maybe EJ could advise as she has been out of season.

Enjoyed both Eden and Lost Gardens of Heligan, but would suggest you need good weather for Heligan as covers a large area with no rain cover.
