Hi all,

As So many people responded to my request for help testing the new server, I though I would post details of it here.

http://www.danfulton.com/a4a/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi

Remeber this is a test forum, so any posts entered will not be saved.

Try it out, let me know, via this thread - or a thread I'll start on the other site.

I am particularly interested in any speed / performance problems.

Thanks for your help.

Dan

Seems good to me, but like Tim said, this one has been okay now for a bit so it is difficult to tell if it was any quicker.

Well seems okay to me Dan,

Difficult to assess speed and clarity, but everything is working well.

Definitely faster, Dan - anything from 10 to 40% faster on all the pages I tried downloading text only.

Still faster, but not so marked when downloading images - but that's not a surprise with so many being links to "off-site" sources.

On my elderly slow machine it made a big difference.

All best - Gavin

PS - WOW!  Reply to a new post on the new server is extraordinarily fast!

Seems to work just as well as the present site, except for two occasions when I used the back button and got the "This page not available" page, but on each occasion another touch of the back button solved the problem.

Definitely a bit faster tho`.

Is it faster because there is less information stored on it?

Ten,

All the threads / pictures etc from about 5 days ago are on the test server.

It may be a little faster as less people are using it concurrently.

Cheers
