Don't even go there!  I have been suffering horribly now for over 3 weeks.  I am sneezing all the time, snotty, itchy eyes, itchy roof of my mouth, sleepless nights.   Attractive prospect huh!  Piriton works for a short while, those one a day tables don't even touch it.

lorna

I am glad I don't suffer with it. My son would get hay fever really badly from a young age but doesn't seem to suffer so much now. (fingers crossed) It really is a miserable thing. Hope you both soon feel better.

scotch-mist

Know the feeling :'(

The worst thing is the bl***y doctor say's that ALL I can take for it is 2 paracetamol
every 6hrs. :(

If my leg falls off the medication and dosage is still the same ;D ;D ;D
UNDER PRESSURE (constantly)

my nose running all over the pillow just woke me up  :o yeuch !

is horrid isn't it! me and manuel both get it and it has just come on in the last week or so really bad. I take neoclarytin and flixonase nose spray which both work well for me.

Have also heard that honey from local bees is a great help as it de-sensitises you to your local pollen, apparently. A girl at work who suffers very badly has just got some from a local farm and is trying it out! But other people I know swear by it!

Robert_Brenchley

It definitely works for some people. Try whole food shops, or failing that the local Beekeepers' Association. It has to be untreated local honey.

Hyacinth

I take Loratadine.....stops the eyes and nose streaming most of the time - thing is it's brought me out in a now permanent rash of little pimples round my nose......anyone got a spare burkha? :(

Truffle

The only treatment that I find works is beconase or any nasal spray that contains beclometasone dipropionate. Even then its still bad but no way near as bad if I wasn't on medication- If you've not tried this, you really should!!

It takes a few days to kick-in but when it does you really notcie the difference.

I have heard about the honey treatment and am certainly keen to try it.. mmm mmmm honey!

Mind I think I'm better on my own eh!!!

lorna

Hey there folks.

Just wanted to put my penny's worth in.

I have suffered with (grass pollen) hayfever for over 30 years and every year I say it's the worst it's been.

I used to get the steroid injection - Kenalog - I started of on one a year and have even had 3 injections in one year (some 7 years ago). My then new doctor's jaw dropped. Because of the seriously bad side-effects of this drug the fashion of this drug has past but I have found a solution that works great for me.

It's a steroid tablet (so I believe) and is called Prednosolone (prescription only). The problem with the injections were that when it's in your body it's in you till it fades. I get the tablets and on one a day for a couple of days it gives me a real kick start. Within days it passes out of your body.

I now get away with taking Opticrom at regular intervals.

GF.

I have suffered from Hay Fever all my life but unlike most people mine is Perrenial Rhinitis....(all year round).
I have had Kenolog Injections until they decided they caused anaphalatic shock so discontinued them. Also had the de-sensitising injections....1 a week.
Tried just about everything going, medical, herbal, natural etc.
Now I have Opticrom eye drops, Acrivastine tablets 3 a day and flixonase nasal spray.
The only time I get any relief is at the sea side.
