Allotments 4 All

Could anyone tell me how to post pictures on this board.  I tried to work it out for myself but it didnt work.

Perhaps my method was wrong. Tried copying and pasting between the HTML tags you get when you click the 'insert an image' button above.  This was all I could think of. ???

As you know i am new to this site, and have loads of digital pics of my garden to share with you.  I would be grateful if someone could tell me how to do it ;)

Hi Richard, if you look at page 3 of the Gallery the method is explained in lots of different postings. But here goes again. Next to the letter P on your keyboard is a square bracket like so[         Then type img] then the URL then [/img] Then Preview to see if it worked.
Any more?

Tim - Why would stephan pretend to be me?  I can assure you that is most definetly me, Richard Filer and NOT Stephan pretending to be Richard.  :o

You might care to enlighten me on the background here as i think I am missing something.  ???

ff, I've just replied to your question re: Stephan/yourself under 'basics' - this sometimes happens when one chooses an avatar from an established list?

In an Ideal World, of course, a taken avatar would be marked as 'taken' ... but (sigh, sigh) we're not there yet..

- as Lishka has indicated , tongue in cheek of course - but the cat's name is Cleo - in our eyes 'belongs' to Stephan.

No copyright, of course, but it makes life a lot easir if folk chose something discrete. If you used 'my' elk, I would seek some other logo, in case someone thought you were me. See?? !! Another Tim arrived on the beeb boards and I had to watch my step. = Tim

In your fruit garden, what do you do in between your rows of fruit, do you lay it to grass, leave it as earth, put chippings down?? I can't quite tell from your photo (and am doing my fruit area this winter so want to know what's best!)

Not sure if i can help much as i have changed surfaces quite regularly it seems! Lol ;)

Seriously, I started off with just a thicket of rasberres and no paths, then I decided to cut paths for access which were surfaced with stoney rubble from other parts of the garden.  Then a couple of years ago I replanted the summer fruiters with new canes, and the old paths were lost, leaving bare earth between the new rows which i decided to allow grass to grow over. At the same time i established a network of 'through route' paths (rather than deadenders between the rows), these at first were made from rubble and excavated bedrock (chalk), which in time became ill defined an weedy. These have since been turned into proper paths with a decent foundation, pavior edging and topping of gravel.  The access paths remain earthen, withthe intention of grassing them over in time.  Some time in the future i may decide to put a better surface on these paths (possibly gravel or chalk rubble). Basicaly i am undecided.

Perhaps overall gravel is the best, low maintainace but costs money initialy, and can get weedy, but if you lay a membrane underneath it the weeds are easy to control.
