If I remember correctly it is one of the places that you and Ron love. Have a great holiday. Enjoying the sun here but not enjoying lugging watering cans full of water up the garden. I am really envious Mary. xxxx

live your days not count your years

Paulines7

It sounds lovely there.

How do prices in Italy compare to those back home Mary?  I remember visiting Italy on a day trip from an Austrian holiday fifty years ago.  I was with my parents and was amazed at how much they charged for a cup of coffee.  Three cups cost the equivalent of £2.10s whereas the same could have been bought for about 1s 6d in the UK.

We have talked about taking the caravan there but if it's still pricey, we will give it a miss.

Enjoy the rest of your stay.

Love Italy! So jealous.
Paulines7, in the last couple of years I have found that Italy mostly compares to France in terms of price, except for icecream (cheap and unbeatable, so mainly live on that :). Drinks in cafés are expensive except for coffee. But we found that locals just buy beer at the corner store and drink it on the park bench so we did that too :)  Restaurants are expensive, except for pizza and basic pasta. But groceries were quite good value.  We had nice accommodation in Rome, very central, basic but clean and it was about 100 euros a night (but for a 4 person family room).
2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com
