Just pulled the last of the parsnips, celeriac and carrots (Eskimo, had them in pots all winter, little issue with fly cos they went out from modules quite late, and they've done really well... got massive too in the mild winter we had. They'll get roasted down tomorrow along with a load of spuds (might be a double or triple load through the oven) adn then frozen for bubble and squeak... got a load of garlic left that I need to either plant )the elephant stuff) or puree adn freeze (all the rest of it) and I also ought to audit the spuds again, prioritise cooking the ones that are breaking into chit,.... freezer still loaded up with broad beans, sweetcorn and peppers from last year along with a load of tomato puree and ready meals made from it.

Still got brussels sprouts in though a lot will be coming out tomorrow for the bubble and squeak extravaganza, I'll try and leave a few though, as long as they're holding it's nice to have at least one fresh veg with a meal...

manicscousers

Minted ( our mint) lamb shanks with desiree spuds from the store, romanesco broccoli, sweetcorn and peas from the freezer and sprouts picked today  ;D

My 7 month old has been enjoying our last few winter squash over the last couple of weeks. It's great to be able to wean her with something home grown  ;D

Yes indeed - what a nutritious start to 'proper' food.  I used to make almost all of our own baby food, cooked and then blended and frozen in portions.  With the exception of melon (which my son hates) the kids were fine with eating vegetables, most likely because they were used to the flavours.

We also have squash left and I dug up a few scorzonera roots (in pieces as usual rather than getting all of a root out :( ).  We have onion and leeks too and the tiny overwintered rocket is growing again.

Normylass

White sprouting broccoli and chips made from my potatoes ;D

Today I harvested carrots and beetroot which were still edible. Also parsley, a few potatoes. Also ate a few ripened Sungold cherry tomatoes which have been in a container on a sunny windowsill all Winter. You always feel so good eating your own stuff well out of season!!

Dorset Apple Cake..  :)

Apples here too from store, also squash and garlic.  Mispoona from the greenhouse.  Lamb's lettuce and cress, rocket and spring onions.  Had the last baggie of achocha halves from the freezer in a slow cooked 'almost no work' dinner - green Thai curry sauce from a jar, a couple of chicken breasts from the freezer, squash cubes and a green pepper.
