I don't know if you can see the little robin sitting on the fork handle

I love robins, we have a couple on the site who sit on handles  ;D
Found a hedgehog walking across the bowling green today  ;D

Wonderful, all this week when I've been working on the plot I've had two robins for company.

This one was really friendly.

I've had them like that. One was always flying through my legs and perching on my boot tip!

Saw a wren today popping into the stored apple boxes- do not usually see them out in the open that much. :D

Yes it's that time of year. I don't know if it's the same robin as last year but there is always at least one!

They don't usually live much more than a year so it's probably a different one every year.

Cute little things! I wonder if they can identify different people's faces as scientists have discovered crows can do.
We have three crows that routinely sit on a dead tree out back. Have been trying to figure out
a way to "communicate" with them.

We have a friendly robin too. It's not quite swimming with dolphins but it is a lovely feeling having one follow you around the garden. Sadly I guess food is the motive rather than wanting to form a long term relationship. Still it's nice while it lasts. (hope the cats don't get it)

I haven't seen mine for a while, maybe he's away on his hols, off to Mandelas old haunt I expect.  :-X    ;)

Is he that famous footballing robin, Harry Redbreast?

I haven't seen many robins this year but I had a blackbird accompanying me in the garden regularly this summer.  Her tail was odd and came up at a funny angle, probably due to sitting on the nest for so much.  It helped me to recognise her though.  She was very tame and I would take dried mealworms out with me to give her an extra treat.

A lot of small birds have been a bit scarce this year after two very hard winters. There haven't been many of the usual long-tailed tits around the allotment, for instance.

Funny you should mention long tailed tits, Robert. I hadn't seen any for months then, one day last week, a flock of a couple of dozen of them arrived on my feeders - next day they were gone and I haven't seen or heard them since! Just passing through?

They won't be going far. I've seen the occasional family group during the autumn, but I normally see them every time I'm on the site. We need a mild winter, not only to replenish our water resources - mild winters are usually wet - but for the sake of the wildlife.
