Allotments 4 All

Just wanted to share these gorgeous crocus's with you.  I planted these last year to remember a special person and they are just so beautiful that the photo doesnt do them justice. 

Forgot to add that the name of the crocus is 'Rememberance'

They are lovely Mimi - I can think of nothing better than flowers in the garden as a rememberance of someone special.  I have a Camelia for my Mum and a rose for two of my dogs :)

I love planting things to remind me of people. One daughter gave me some money to buy a nice plant that I wanted for my birthday last year.  Buy something that reminds you of ME.  So .....she is very soft and fluffy, loves perfumes and is very girly, so I bought a beautiful soft pink climbing rose with a gorgeous scent.  Youngest  also gave me some dosh too and I bought something that reminded me of her as she was heading off to New Zealand  for a year.  At the time she had fuchsia pink hair (and   awful though it sounds looked fab and really suited her) So I bought  a Peiris............well that's pink on its extremeties too  ;)   The crocus's I bought I'm memory of my Dad who we sadly lost last year.  Why do they remind me of him...well it was the colours.... Dad was solid and deep but on the inside he was bright and fun.......  and I miss him very much.

So, what do other people plant to remind them of someone else????

Have never really planted anything to remember anyone, but I have my allotment to remember my dad as we shared an allotment when I lived at home, and I am always chattering away to him whilst I am there, and I am sure the b*gger is standing behind me when I am weeding as I can smell his roll-ups!  Words cannot describe that feeling can they Mimi.  I miss my lovely dad heartbreakingly constantly and it will be 5 years this August.

Mums dog died when she was here exactly this coming weekend a year ago, and Kizzie is buried in our garden and we have a wonderful black bamboo planted over her.

My OH says he's going to plant a cat scratching post on my Jack Russell's grave when he finally (if ever) pops his clogs

Seriously though, I planted a rose called Marjorie when my mum in law died and I bought one for other members of the family ,so now we all have a rose each and it feels like we still have something of her which we can share.  When we visit each other we ask about the roses and see how they're doing.

I am in an in bloom group and we plant a whole bed for a local man to remind him of his late wife.  He says it brightens him up whenever he passes.   :)

I grow roses of all kinds as my father was a passionate grower.  He always wore one in his button hole

Although my dad is still here, I wonder if I sow far too many seeds in "his memory" - he has sown 3 rows of Webbs Wonderful in one session!!! Lets just say there was 100% germination!!!
For my dad, I would have to find a nice dahlia - the whole garden flower beds just contained dahlias - lots of them (which drove me round the bend!). We used to go to the shows up in Westminster - the dahlia ones. Now he likes (well my mother as well) roses, though he isn't able to do any gardening anymore.

i don't think i could plant enough beautiful flowers to remind me of the two dear people i have lost, i would just have a sea of flowers and the beautiful scent they give off would remind me of their happy smiley faces on a summers day....their laughter carried on a gentle breeze.

Mimi - they are gorgeous. If they are even better in the flesh, they must be amazing.

So many of my plants were either bought by or are from the gardens of my relatives, particularly mum, gran and MIL. I love getting plants from their gardens as the plants always remind me of them. I wish I could plant something that reminds me of my grandad. We lost him 15 years ago. Trouble is, it seems such a long time ago now and I was so young, nothing seems right. But I do have his old allotment fork and spade. So every time I dig, he's helping me.

Aqui, I bet that you can never pick up that fork without thinking of your grandad though.
