My allotment is in Elton, Cheshire, unfortunatley I live 3 miles away and as we are not allowed a shed or greenhouse i'ts a bit difficult carting the tools down. Once I'm down there I love it though.

I got my allotment January 15th this year so very new to it. It is in Sowerby Bridge, West Yorks. I have got to know a few people there and every week more seem to be coming out of the woodwork. It's nice to know somebody else is there.
There are about 30 odd plots, full sun, water taps, but no toilet yet.

Hi this is our first post,
had our lottie since sept last year and its still in working progress. Was a huge mess full of brambles but we had some lovely probation boys who have been troopers and cleared a huge amount bless them.
We have two plots and only woking on one at the moment as we both work full time and between us have 4 kiddys and the youngest is 17 months.
We are trying to make it a kiddy friendly lottie, with raised beds and a lawn eventually but at the mo its a mud slide.
Oh yea we are based in the sherborne valley allotment society in spon end coventry.
fox are you there too as i see your close to cov centre?and you too jooolie?Im next to the four pounds avenue gate cant miss it....full of mud
Any advise greatly appreciated. husband and wife team alloters

Hi, I have joined this group today.
My two plots, one of which I have had for about 24 years now, are at the Crawley Down site in West Sussex.
There are about 100 plots & the site is situated in the centre of the ‘village’.

I think I'm coming to the conclusion that we're all scarily related in one way or another and allotmenteering must be in the genes!  We all know each other, or lived where someone else lived, or used to work just round the corner!

Mrs Ava

All of these lottie members, and not one of you is on my site!  Somewhere, Ava's cousin now has a lottie and the site addy has been passed on......only thing is, he will probably have some curious nickname and we will never realise it is him!!!

akitastorm

Hi i am sixteen years old ad i would like a allotment am i 2 young to do so i live un hartlepool  does eney one know how i can go about this

Roy Bham UK

Hi akitastorm, and welcome, ;)  I'm not sure, ::)  your age may be against you, because you will need a key to gain access to your Lottie, someone may be able to sneak you in when no one is looking and pretend you are with them, but that would be quashed when they found out you haven't paid your dues. :o

Don't you have to be 21 to have a key or am I out of date (as usual) ;D

It depnds on the local rules. Your best bet is to get your parents to take the lottie and work it yourself. I doubt we'd object on our site although I'd have to re-read the insurance policy.

There's a very young lad who has an allotment near here and he was only about 13 years old.  He took it on with support from his parents as he is very overweight (his folks aren't) and he was getting bullied at school so tended to spend time alone.  It's been great for him as he has worked so hard and put in so much effort.  He really enjoys eating the food he grows too.  His parents bought him lots of seeds etc for his allotment for Christmas to help keep his enthusiasm.

That is so sad, I really hope he makes a success with his crops on the lottie, it's a great learning curve and possibly a healing convalesce from his bullying, I wish him well and a great harvest.
