I often see a post on here and think I could help in some way.  I look up the person's profile and find that there is no location entered.  I know some people may be a bit wary about giving their particulars, but surely the nearest town or even the county would not be giving personal information away.   :-\

Sometimes there are posts about weather and someone will say that it is snowing where they are.  I look at their profile and there is no mention of their location.  They could be anywhere in the world!!   ::)

So come on folks!  Please put something in the location box shown on your profile.  It doesn't take a minute and makes a lot of sense.   :D

Totally agree Pauline, and Kev your right, under your avatar is the perfect place, added mine some years back when this was last discussed.

Calendula where abouts in Saddleworth are you? We are always in Uppermill indulging in pub grub  ;D

I'd add mine to my avatar but I can't get at my settings to change, says my password is wrong and I can't find how to change it.....help.......

Small - you shouldn't need to do a password, so try this
Click on profile (underneath the A4A banner)
A new screen is opened, on the left hand side of the screen (in the section Modify Profile) click on Modify Profile Information, this will open up another page and you can enter your details either under Personal Text or Location

I hope this works.....

My niece has just started a job in Youth Work in Diggle- I'd never heard o it until then, even though I grew up in Cheshire (Cheadle Hulme, so not that close!)

Thanks, 1066 - job done......I've always been inclined to over-complicate things!

Its nice to know who your neighbours are
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

I often think the same as you Pauline.  I've always had my location with my signature, but I've just added it under my avatar as Kev suggested.

i have managed to put in my location but then everything went wrong, put in my DOB and must have overloaded the computer! it wanted passwords and got too complicated, it has my location but not my DOB. obviously due to my incompetence with computers i am not in my twenties and was born in the sixties. i am thinking of a signature, which my PA (son) will have to put on.

When I first go on to any site my initial personal security care kicks in so I give minimal information.

I have tried to add more over the years but I can not manage to change my info no matter how hard I try on this site.

May be it is me being useless.

So, if the area seems needed I include it in my replies.

Or can we have advice on how to alter the initial registration from an expert

Most people are in the UK on this forum. Rare because a lot of sites on the internet are in the Americas, USA and Canada.

I like this forum because it is mostly UK and reasonably local. Nothing personal to our colonial cousins, commonwealth brethren or EEC member states but being British our biggest handicap is the weather . OUR WEATHER. No one else in the world has WEATHER like we do.

It would be nice if we could add to our user  names the country we currently live in .

Purple Heather.  There is a quote from poster 1066 showing how to add your location.  I have printed it out below:

Click on profile (underneath the A4A banner)
A new screen is opened, on the left hand side of the screen (in the section Modify Profile) click on Modify Profile Information, this will open up another page and you can enter your details either under Personal Text or Location
