I have had a special sparrow box (3 separate nesting boxes in a terrace) for longer than 15 years! All of a sudden, this year, not only are they nesting in there but have taken over one of the tit boxes too! It was amusing to watch one sparrow making sure the hole in the tit box was going to be big enough for him.

Wonder why they have decided on my garden this year?

Lucky you, I hardly ever see sparrows hereabouts! Do keep us informed as to their progress.

There are quite a few sparrows about this year, surprisingly. My mother-in-law, who passed away this year and only lived 5 doors away was an avid bird lover and fed them regularly. Now I have her bird table in my garden and doing the same so it could be that because there was no food source in her garden they decided to come to mine!

I will keep you posted about their progress.

I have a Sparrow Terrace nesting box and has been occupied a few times over the years.  I don't see many House sparrows but I have Tree Sparrows.

House sparrows were everywhere when I was a kid. They bred under the eaves in the warehouses up the road, but they're all gone now, and the nest sites with them. I used to have to be careful how I fed the birds, or they'd get everything, and the more interesting birds wouldn't have a chance.

we've got dunnocks nesting behind our pond, about 10 ft from the back door. :D
You couldn't make it up!
