I wash and dry them, put them in a plastic bag and put them in the salad drawer of the fridge.  They will last for quite a few days like that.

I've got some of those green storage bags (QVC,Wilko etc)allsorts of fruit and veg keeps really well in them I've never tried courgettes as we tend to cook/soup or give away but I can't see why not. They're great for lemons and limes which i always like to have in but don't always use regularly
sanity is overated

I've frozen courgette chopped into chunks - it's fine cooked from frozen. Do find that the denser types freeze better.
But, without a freezer, the best way to store them has got to be to let them grow to marrow size and harden off the skin. Kept in a cool (not cold) dark place, with plenty of ventilation, I've managed to keep marrows up until around Christmas time.

Having cured some large Romanesco last year we were able to keep one until February last year, just on the kitchen unit.. was showing no signs of rot but it was taking up too much room!!  :-X

Trompetto d'albenga courgettes (actually related to a butternut squash) keep very well.  The seeds are only up one end, so if they go a bit coarse you can just throw that bit away.

When some of ours get too big then I store them on the spare room windowsills and use them for soup. They keep for quite while
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

tim

Grow them on to Marrows & then they'll store.

GRACELAND

yep as Tim say marrows will keep longer :)
i don't belive death is the end
