Just been on the news.  Michael Jackson has died of a heart attack.  Although his life was surrounded in controversy, I still thought he was a decent singer.

He made great music.......very sad.

Me, " ask not for whom the bell tolls"...
not a fan myself but he had talent, despite his "issues" and 50 is no age, and he has small children...  :-X

When someone dies so young it reminds me that life is fragile.

oh dear.

I wish the bbc website would change saying "he had the unhealthy body of a 50 year old" to " he had the body of an unhealthy 50 year old" though

still, he'll live on - all his children are called Michael Jackson, even the girl

I agree with the sentiment. Birth and death are common to all of us, so what?

OllieC

Doesn't this mean that there's one less paedophile in the world? Plus, personally I think his music was shallow, synthetic & lacking any intelligence.

Shame for his family, otherwise I'm with Jim!

LOL, they're called Prince (I & II) & Paris - they're middle names are Michael I think?  :)

Agree with Jim though  :)

Mr Smith

His style and music certainly did not appeal to me, forget about the credit crunch and your mortgage he was fourhundred million $$$$$ in dept and like others have said its one less paedo to worry about, ;)

I'm not a huge fan of him, although I love the Thriller album, I think it's hard to separate the hype and rumours from the man himself.  Despite his wealth, it never brought him happiness.  I feel very sad for his children and his family and its a sad loss of talent.
What I lack in ability and experience, I make up for in sheer enthusiasm!!!

Very sad, though those poor kids might now have more chance of a normal  life.

Old bird

I was never a "fan" of the man - but he was pretty much the ultimate "showman" of his time!  His music and stage acts were stunning!

Echo thoughts about his children - hopefully they will get a more normal childhood now.

I suppose if I choose to look at the private life of many singers /actors I admire I would be very dissapointed.

Michael has been a part of my musical life since I was very young and he has always entertained me.

For that I feel sad at his passing.

Today people are not happy to just admire the work. They want to know everything about the person. Not good.

For a father to die at 50 it's devastating for the children and the rest of the family. I felt sorry for the chap, his own childhood was dreadful by all accounts, I hope he can rest in peace now and his family can learn to live without him.

What he did or didn't do in his life is a matter of speculation, hype and manipulation and only those involved know the true facts.

Im with OllieC and jimtheworzel.  Couldn't stand the music and thought he was a bit ridiculous.
Joe Strummer was more of a shock to me when he went.
Moved to Portugal - ain't going back!
