......and have sown some melons for this year. :-[ :o

Yes, yes, I know I swore blind that I wouldn't bother this year, what with year after year of failure to produce anything bigger than a tennis ball........ but it was all a seed swaps fault! Tempting me with pineapple melon seeds, what do you expect!!  ::)

So when I am moaning about abject failure again this year, or giving Saddad dirty looks because one of my plants ends up in the big schools greenhouse and he grows it on to be the size of a small zeppelin, just remind me I have bought it upon myself....................! ;)
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

To avoid disappointment I grew Minnesota Midgets last year which are meant to be about the size of a tennis  ball  :)

This was at the end of July but they did eventually get big enough to eat...
[attachment=1]
- sown on 8th March last year.

I plan to sow this year's this w.e. along with Charentais (failed miserably last year) & new to me Sweetheart (for the GH) and Collective Farm Woman for outdoors.

What with cukes and some sweet peppers in the GH as well, nearly all the chillies are going to have to make it outdoors this year.

You go for it Deb - don't let Saddad and his big greenhouse get you down; although I confess to suffering sweet potato envy we must rise above these feelings. :)

dont be fooled by the name I am a Lady!! :-*

I grew the minesota midget(well the leaves anyway. Have sown some Emir this year.
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

I'm feeling better and better about this now! ;D

I've tried all different varieties over the years, even those that are supposed to do well outdoors, up north etc, none have been bigger than a tennis ball.

And as for watermelons...well, we won't go there shall we! :-\

It's not my greenhouse... it's the "Schools" display house I just get the job of planting it up and growing weird stuff... The Lab Lab and Yard Long beans were a total failure last year... :-X

My Yard Long bean seedings grew to 6 inches high and resolutely stayed at that height all season. Then I read the instructions and they said grow under glass :)

On the weird GH stuff front has anyone tried growing a Cucumber Melon? I've got some seeds of one called Mira (from Tuckers). Meant to grow very quickly.

Out the corner of my eye I can see the free pkt of mixed melon seeds from Plants of Distinction- I wasn't- but now am tempted!

Come on now, stay positive, oh the ecstasy when you make it, especially if you eat it straight from the vine. Nothing that good is easy... good luck to you all, I shall be watching you XX Jeannine
When God blesses you with a multitude of seeds double  the blessing by sharing your  seeds with other folks.
