Allotments 4 All

A good couple of hours sorting the first quarter of plot one ready for spring.  The ground is pretty sodden and heavy so after weeding that bit, I was ready for home.  Starting to look pretty.   ;D

Good work EJ, i can see strawberies on the right, do you know what ones they are? and what is planted on the left?

Yes, strawbs - no idea of variety as they were all gifts when I took on the allotment, cor, 5 or so years ago.  Some are massive, some are tiny.  I thinned them out last winter so didn't get much of a crop last year, hoping for big things this year.  I also have another 25 plants home here to plant out next visit.

It is a row of young spinach on the left - I know it will bolt come spring, but the long stems will be covered in tender young leaves, great for salad and stir fries.  Also in this quarter are daffs, gladioli and dahlias, a monster cardoon you can see in the far distance, and a row of globe artichokes.

I still have lots to do, but my other plot is currently sown to mustard, so I have to dig that over, a long chore, but worth it, my fruit cage is already sorted so just a tidy up really and my onions, shallots and garlic are growing like the clappers so just a pick through for them.

Marmalade - 14 jars downstairs, and I have just taken an order for another 8 jars, so off to the farm shop I go again.

Well done, EJ.et you were ready for a long soak after that!

My Japanese onions, shallots and garlic went in during November Rosebud.  If I decide to plant some maincrops, it will be in a few weeks time when the weather has warmed up a little.
