Hello

This is my first post.  I was just about to finally get an allotment on a site next to the M32 in Bristol and now the Council has decided that it wants to concrete over the whole area to make a park and ride.

The site is the best agricultural land for miles around and includes about 70 allotments and a few smallholdings.  It is a lovely area, even through it is really close to the motorway.

An online petition has been set up, so if any fellow allotment holders fancy showing some support for some endangered allotments, you can sign it here (you don't have to be from Bristol)

I'll post again when I finally have my allotment, though how long I will have it now seems questionable.

Done it.  I have friends and family in the Bristol area, who would also be affected.

Good luck.

That's crazy but so typical!  I'm all to happy to support this petition.
Flighty's plot,  http://flightplot.wordpress.com,  is my blog.

I support the Gardening with Disabilities Trust, http://www.gardeningwithdisabilitiestrust.org.uk

I've signed- looks like there are plenty of reasons not to put it there, not just the allotments!

If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

Thanks for all the support.  It is a daft idea, but then our Council does seem to be rather full of them at the moment.

If you can encourage other people to sign that would be good too.  As they say, 'Power to the People'!

Cheers

We've taken possession of a double plot on the site.  It is a tangle of bramble and couch grass, so it should keep us very busy.

The allotments are still under threat, so please sign the petition if you can.

You couldn't make it up!

Done! I live in Bristol, and spent 3 years on a waiting list for an allotment as demand is so high.

Ours (Kersteman road) has been split in half by a new school being built at the top of the site, and a shortcut being bulldozed through the middle for the kids who are too lazy to walk around the edge. Several plots at one corner of the site have been sold off and are now being developed as "eco" flats. Am hoping this is the end of the developments at our site, but my plot would be next in line if they decided to build an extension.
