I pay around £50 for a cut, blow and highlight, always cut my own fringe tho as I would have to go too often.

When I was younger,I used to go to the hairdressers to have my hair put up for a special occasion, the last time I did this the girl told me,she could not do it,did not know how. ::)

Do that myself now.

My silver highlights did not cost me a penny. ;D

Some years ago I lived in Hastings and apparently (so a friend told me  ;) ) there was a shady hairdressers on the road to St Leonards. For £30, you got a cut and blow dry, and a different kind of blow while you were waiting.

Something for the weekend sir :o

I have never paid for a haircut. The navy done it for free, after that  I never had it cut for about 30 years, then I hacked it all off one night after a ride on the bike without plaiting it. It was so tangled I could not brush it.

It has been about 4 years since then, but now it must have stopped growing as it has been about 15 inches long now for ages. So it should never need another cut.

i haven't had my hair cut since 1988 ;D but ive just asked my wife how much her hair cut is and she said £48 every 8weeks, i now wish i hadn't seen this thread and asked her :-X but i suppose me not having my hair cut offsets it a wee bit :-\

Apparently they leave out loads of the basics in training now. They get to choose between colouring or Perming. :o Very odd as this is where the big money is made.
Smile, it confuses people.

One of the mums at school is a hairdresser and I reakon she does every child in the school, and most of the parents!  She is constantly on the go.  A cut and blowdry is £8 - I always give her a tenner, and she does the kids fringes or james' quick numer 3 for nothing.  I had a full colour, no longer  a dumb blonde, and was round there for over 3 hours last week all for £30 and my hair has never looked so great.

Have to admit this is an eye-opening thread. I've got waist+ length hair, occasionally trimmed by self, and Sir has got a ponytail halfway to his waist, again occasionally trimmed by me. Dead easy to trim if you have long enough hair, just pull to ponytail in centre of back, bring round to front and CHOP!

However, we have a small dilemma these days. Just over a year old and toddling round the place. Where on earth is one supposed to go to get a small wriggly boy's hair cut properly when one hasn't been to a hairdresser since the age of 12? A barber or a hairdresser?

I have no idea where to start, but at least this thread's told me how much to expect to get bitten by!

If you have a Collage that teaches hairdressing its a lot cheaper but you have to allow extra time.  The tutor checks each stage and I've always been pleased with the results.

That's what I do :)  Last Christmas I decided to treat myself to a restyle in the BHS hairdressers in town but after forking out over £40 (£5 for a squirt of conditioner???) I quickly went back to the college!  I've had a wash, highlights, cut and blow dry for £20 at my local college and I've never once been disappointed.  I might have become malnutrioned and dehydrated from being in there for so long but never disappointed ....  ;D
