Just booked appointment to get my hair cut on Monday.  Haven't used this salon for a while but they sent a 25% off voucher through the post.  Called and asked for Monday appointment with an associate (£28).  They replied there are no associates that work on Mondays but I could have a senior associate (£38).  I say no thanks, they say OK we'll do it for £28.  I say, you sent me a 25% off voucher, will you honour it against the £28, they say OK.  Bargain, £38 cut for £21!  Credit crunch isn't all bad.

I pay £2.50 to have my hair cut.  She charges £5 for a cut, wash and blow dry.  Beat that if you can!!!   ;D

Crikey Pauline that is as cheap as chips :)Thought I did well, my hairdresser comes to my home every 2 weeks. I wash my hair ready and she charges £6.50 for blow dry £9.50 when she cuts as well. Still much cheaper than local salons.

My wife's hairdresser comes every other Friday morning, she cuts my hair every eight weeks. £8.

When I worked at a hospital (1959) I used to cut the patients hair (for nothing).

my hair cut costs £38, i have it done 4 or 5 times a year and its with the hair dresser i have used for 10 years. 2 years ago she started her own salon so i feel this is a good price and i am supporting a local business. And yes its a wash cut and blow dry and yes this is the same price at the salon she used to work at.

I cut my hubbies hear with a pair of clippers which cost £35 8 years ago :)

Women's hairdressing seems to have become very expensive lately. It costs me £55 for highlights (top only), cut and blow dry which takes about an hour. This is a local salon, not one in the city. I don't think I would get much cheaper than that without getting someone to come around to the house. I get my hair done about 3-4 times a year. Should really get it done more often, but I don't like the cost. I did try doing my own highlights once - never again!! The result was, interesting to say the least! I cut Ant's hair with a pair of clippers which cost about £20 4 years ago.

Married to a hairdresser, free haircuts for life.
Thinking back it may of been cheaper to pay to get my hair cut.

If you have a Collage that teaches hairdressing its a lot cheaper but you have to allow extra time.  The tutor checks each stage and I've always been pleased with the results.

Now we hairdressers have got to make a living you know. I'm now retired but I reckon I jolly well earned every penny of monies charged. I pay £30 + tip for a cut and blow dry and thats ok by me.  ;)

Star, a man with any hair would be nice ;D

Although my hairdresser only charges £2.50 for a cut, I always give her double that especially as I was paying £15 for a cut ten years ago.  She does it in her own home and it usually takes about 20 minutes.  By that reckoning it is the equivalent of £15 an hour, twice what I was earning when I was at work!

Emagggie

If she's good at the job then she's worth every penny Pauline ;D. Too many get away with really bad work these days.  ::)

I had a mate whose motto was "if hairdressers can cut hair then anyone can".

Well, I decided to give it a go and did my own.  Hhhmmm, not half as easy as you'd think!  But nonetheless I persevered and can get it into a reasonable shape now, not as good as a store bought hair cut, but presentable.  Plus, unlike with store bought hair cuts I can actually get it back into the same shape that it was when I cut it - it doesn't detonate on leaving the shop.

Over the last year I reckon that I've saved around £40. But the real reason I do it my self is that I just hate queuing at the barber's.
