I think i've lost a stone already tonight - normally a storm clears the air, but it does'nt seem to be working that way tonight.. >:(

Here in West Essex the air has cooled down considerably (although all my doors and windows are still wide open) and there's some breeze.  Wonder if it's a sign of thunder/rain?  At work, my office is sheltered under trees so it remains lovely and cool all day but when I step out of it at the end of the day ... phew!

tonybloke

it's still roasting here!! ;)
You couldn't make it up!

Pigs sweat, gentlemen perspire and ladies glow, I believe.

Could have supplied the National Grid in past few days but it's raining down here in Sussex now at last  ;D
If I ever get it all right - then that's the time to quit.

Well I sure am not glowing...hoink hoink!!

Top tip for reducing the temperature inside your house - open the loft hatch and leave it open. So long as you've got vents in the roof it gives the hot air somewhere to go. Works for me. Also keep the curtains drawn so as not to allow any direct sun in. I'm probably teaching my grannies to suck eggs here...

I have not been able to see the and of the street for four days because of the fret from the see.

Yesterday it was 35 degrees C in our conservatory - will have to fork out for those blinds!

I am irritable and grumpy from 3 nights of not sleeping (over and above my normal insomnia), we did have rain last night but wasn't noticeably cooler. I am banking on fresh air following the storms and a cooler night tonight.

8) The shades aren't because I am cool, but because I have circles under my eyes  :o

I am sweating like a P I G!!
Suzanne have you tried taking Magnesium as a supplement? It might help you sleep and when its hot you lose more magnesium because of sweating! Its so humid its awful :-[ And we are getting through so much lemon squash its unreal !! Might have to get over to the supermarket and buy big bottles.
ooh and another tip is to open the window in the evening and place a fan infront of the open window ..its draws the cool air in and cools down a room.

We had a storm here in Essex in the early hours and now it's cooler and spitting in the wind.
Smile, it confuses people.

Enjoy it while it lasts - the end of next week onwards looks a bit naff on metcheck..

....last night i did almost 3 hours of gardening had to peal the clothes off i had sweated so much. Did about 4 or 5 hours saturday.

I filled my green wheely bin after 2 evenings gardening with hand pulling couch grass.

I had put down 6 bags of wood chip, 8 bags of soil (4 i did on satuday), planted 8 shrubs and 2 trees and a couple of climbers.

Got about another 2 hours worth of sorting and the back garden is all finished (pressure washing the decking and cleaning up the table and finish planting a couple of plants i have left).

House is on the market now so i wanted to make sure the garden looked the part. I managed to get 2 car loads of plants from people on freecycle inc 2 massive caster oil plants. All the plants are medium sized which makes the garden look maturish rather than something i have just done :)

Also have to pack away all my allotment stuff, mini greenhouse and the like while its all dry and less likly to rot.

:)
