Hi, after the recent  rains my plot is awash with tall grass which I need to strim. I know the petrol ones are the best but I was wondering if the rechargeable ones are any use. Anyone tried them?

We have a petrol and rechargeable strimmer. I used the rechargeable for the first time last week and was quite impressed but (yes here comes the but!) it is not as powerful as the petrol. I felt it was good for a light strim but it didn't tackle the thick stem weeds too well.
I only strimmed for about 15 minutes so I couldn't tell you how long it will last.
I would use it again but only for light use. The petrol strimmer is great for large areas with a mixture of weeds and grass.
Hope this helps a bit!! ;D

I've been getting at least 40 minutes from my cordless strimmer.
Can't really use a petrol one as I have to take it to the plot by bus.
Would not be allowed on with petrol and nowhere to get it close to my lottie.

We bought a Bosch Accutrim last year for this very purpose.  Recently gave it away to someone with a little pretty garden, to which it is better suited.

Entirely useless for allotment tasks - not enough power and not enough endurance.  For small tasks a pair of long handled shears is better, quicker, and less effort.

We use an Accutrim 26 on our allotment but a) ours is only 55x25ft and b) the allotment is nearly all raised beds so the strimmer is used for the bits the mower can't reach - mainly longish grass.  Also we have a spare battery. 15-20 minutes per battery depending on how wet the grass is sounds about correct for the Bosch so not terrific.

If it's just grass I think you'll be ok with a rechargeable but this subject has been raised before and I think most commented that they found rechargeables inadequate, certainly for clearing rather than just maintaining.

I would be interested to know the make you're using good7saint.
