if you had the choice what would be your ideal/dream garden and where would it be?

I live in a suburban semi but would love to live in the country on the edge of a village with a big (flat or gently undulating) garden that was a blank canvas when i moved there so i could create a garden from scratch. The garden would have flower borders trees shrubs and a nice big fruit and veg patch. Should also have nice veiws for a 'borrowed landscape'.  Oh and ideally space for a small nursery.

House: Period property with character but NOT thatched or half timbered.

Place? Somewhere in deepest Devon or Cornwall. // ;D

What about you?

House - solid stone-built cottage, 4 bedrooms, located in open countryside somewhere near Bodmin/Launceston.

Garden - a few (3 or 4) acres, flowers near the house, a big kitchen garden (naturally!), small copse of coppice trees and enough space for some livestock - pigs and chickens ideally.

Oh, and enough money so I didn't have to work and actually had time to look after all the above! I can but dream...

Cheers,
Rob ;)

I know exactly what i want a contemproy eco house with the center of the house with an indoor garden and patio.

I would like to have open fires in the house not to heat but just because i want them.

I also want a large basement area which steches out into part of the garden and under a man made large pond and where the light filtered though the water illuminates the basesment though clear ultra high spec tough glass.

I would like 1 acre for an walled orchard with soft fruits planted up the walls and 1 acre for a small holding inc space for a couple of pigs and chickens as well as a decent sized greenhouse. And i want a 1/3 acre family garden and large lake.

Ideal location would be Mount Maunganio (bay of plenty) New Zealand.

My dream house/garden would be on the lizard in cornwall, overlooking the sea and coastline very similar to the above I would love to have a cottage with a flower and lawn garden round the house, an orchard and a big fruit and veg garden. A decent size pond that would have all sorts of wildlife including newts and lovely marginal and bog plants, and steps down to my own private beach.
Oh if only  :)

We have done the 150 year old stone built cottage set in an acre of gardens in the middle of the countryside, but with a baby, full time work and not enough money to sink into it, the dream became a nightmare.  However, it did sell for a good profit.  So, the plan for us when the youngest is about 18/19 is to sell up and move back home, Devon, preferably with a distant sea view.  Plenty of land for animals as well as gardens, allotment, orchard and water.  Not bothered about the property, but will always be cautious of the 'money pit' house having had one.  Of course, that is if life goes to plan, which it doesn't ever seem to.  My dream place to live is with my darling and the kids, anywhere on the planet will do, so long as we are safe, healthy and together.

Back to our 4bed detached bungalow complete with 4/5acres in East Sussex (DP knows where it is) but would never move away from my children but that was my dream home.

I don't think I would move as I feel very fortunate to be living where I am
