Very early, you're right. Mine is about a month ahead of where it ought to be. Two of my crowns were drowned by the waterlogging last year, and bits of ground elder in the roots went wild. So I've dug that lot out, and much to my relief, found sufficient surviving bits of rhubarb to start them off again from scratch.

manicscousers

we've just had our first 'forced' rhubarb crumble  :P ;D

I'd go outside and measure my rhubarb, but it's too ruddy cold (and too dark of course  ;D ), but I think it's about the same as Tim's.

Bear in mind where I live, too!  Frozen NE of England.
Tread softly, for you tread on my greens.

Living in the sheltered south, we've been eating ours for weeks.

I had to split an old clump, so brought some in for forcing.  We started about three weeks ago - yum!

I was going to post the question of when can i pick mine , so now that has been answered i shall go out in the freezing cold & pick some tomorrow , same size as Tim`s. ;D

betula

I only put mine in last year so still a small plant.Treated myself to one stick.
However I have noticed some  lovely Ruby red ones coming up on the derelict plot next door so I think I will be having some of that :)

Mrs Ava

We are on our third picking Tim.  Two of my crowns are still barely growing, but the rest are already growing fast and tall.  Could be the leaf mould I smothered them with in the autumn...

Lucky you, Tim et al! Mine are only a couple of inches here (Edinburgh).  Dug up our ancient crowns last year and planted two new varieties but running true to form I replanted the best bits of the old ones and now all five are about the same size - plan on having lots frozen for use later in the year as I really love my rhu............
Equality isn't everyone being the same, equality is recognising that being different is normal.

my one still looks like a bulb sticking up out the ground with a very small leaf on it, is that right, itw as bought last year andI was told I could pick from it this year but leaves like any pictures I have seen

cornykev

Same as Debs bearly a couple of inches pushing through the manure.  ;D ;D ;D
MAY THE CORN BE WITH YOU.

I share 3 massive plants with my lottie neighbour.  I took 5 good sized stems for rhubarb crumble on Friday - delicious

It's from our handyperson's allotment.

Ours is still struggling.
