Have just discovered this link, although it has been around for a while - and am amazed at the creativity of the video - I believe the technique is called "morphing".  It brings to life all those beautiful originals - I could watch this many times!

Yes they seem to come alive. Just sent it to my son he wants to study digital art at Uni.
