Ours too.....apparently, the word on the street is tesco's are buying it...that will NOT go down very well round these parts!

The one in nearby Daventry (or is it Towcester?) is closing, to be reopened as "Homebase", who I believe recently bought out Focus.

Yes it is Towcester quizz, I had meant to call in there but didnt get round to that either :-\

They went bust with massive debts and all stores were sold off I belive for £1.00 as the purchaser bought all the debt which ran into millions

Wow.....mind you Homebase can afford to take on the losses, it will probably get passed onto the customer anyway  :-\

Store Closures
The start of October saw the announcement that 41 Focus DIY stores were to be sold to a mixture of Homebase, Tesco, Wickes and Sainsburys.

The following stores are being transfered to Homebase:

Warwick, Kidderminster, Keighley, Stafford, Bedford, Cardiff, Swindon, Towcester, Oswestry, Bodmin, Woking, Blackpool, Nottingham, Liskeard, St Albans, Castleford, Willerby, Macclesfield, Formby, Mannings Heath, Redruth, Weston, Evesham, Yoevil, Horwich, Tamworth & Stockport.

Wickes:

Glossop, Mansfield, Penrith, Bulwell, Plumstead, Dumfries & Hereford.

Tesco & Sainsburys:

Lincoln, Flint, Shipley, Nottingham, Bromley, Stamford & Crowborough.

Neither Torquay nor Paignton are mentioned in any of the lists I've seen so far. Anyone know what is happening to them? I'm not able to drive at the moment so I can't just go and take a look  :).

Trust mine to be in the Sainsbury's & Tesco's bunch! Would rather it was a homebase!! :(

My nearest Focus got taken over by Wickes a few years ago. I miss it :'(
It had a tiny caffeteria that sold the best chips in town ;D

Great so now when i can't find the thing I need in Homebase (98%) I won't be able to try Focus and find it!

I spent £40 in my local Focus this morning buying seeds (most of next years), bulbs a hoe and plant food. All were 50%off so thanks for the advice brian :)

No such luck here in Paignton. Our Focus is doing well and was not one of the branches sold off - but at least I got my 10% discount when I bought a new kitchen tap  8). I'll be having a look at the "No Frills" store in Torquay though. It will, apparently, close in January.

Well we were very lucky.  All the staff at ours got made redundant in the run up to Christmas so we were able to get a handsome discount.

That was sarcasm by the way.  We were gutted that ours was closing.  It was on the way to my allotment and we used to use it a lot.  Strangely enough, in the run up to its closure, loads of sharks came out the woodwork and started using it too.

I think I've just been called a shark because I bought some discounted gardening items ??? ??? :o

Nah, don't take notice of that balderdash, SENSIBLE is what you are!!  ;D ;D

i went to our local focus and got some fence panels for a quid shall be sad to see it go

I didn't think we 'did' name-calling on A4A Larkspur, so ignore all such references - as I did.
