Today I've made hundreds of plant labels out of my plastic milk cartons I've been saving. You can make them as fat as you like to write more info on them too.
The bases I have also kept to use as saucers for small plant pots.

I also cut up the six pint cartons and made little propagators for next spring.
On the 2 pint mark, I cut all the way around with sharp scissors. This allows you enough of a *shoulder* to then push the bottom part back into the top section to act as your lid. I used one of hubby's small screw drivers heated in the gas flame  ::)  and made enough holes in the base for drainage.
(I hope he doen't read this) :o

All the knives round ours have crooked ends because OH uses them as screwdrivers. ::)

Whilst looking after my sons neurotic Wymerana(Spelling?), I had to leave her alone for an hour or so, and she has a separation anxiety. When I returned, I found she had been clawing up at the lounge window, and had totally wrecked one of the plastic slatted venetian blinds.

The slats are now all cut into lengths to use as plant labels.
Grow your own and enjoy the fruits of your labours,
Regards Alan.

Hope you can find a pen that doesn't fade or wash off- Sharpies didn't work on my "blind labels" :(

Lindsay

How about a CD Marker pen for plant labels?

star

Yeah, the CD markers work well ;D
I was born with nothing and have most of it left.

What brand, please?

Stabilo 'Write-4-all'.

Or any glass writing pen, this one says will write on almost all surfaces. It writes better on margerine tub plastic than plastic milk bottles

There is a podcast called Alternative Kitchen Garden which has just had an episode -"20 uses with a plastic bottle" which had this and many other ideas in.
